Mike and George are spewing nothing more than alarmist blather. They are accusing the developer of a crime (i.e. illegal water hook-up) when no such evidence exists. In this country, you are innocent until proven guilty and there is simple no way they would be granted a meter claiming that my desal operation is broken. I assure you that redundancy would be built into the desal facility more so that any utility scale operations.

As for Janet, she is an anti change agent. There is precedent for getting away from the grid. Solar panels, which are the new rage, take existing home off the utility grid and everyone applauds it. Fragmenting water cannot be claimed as a bad thing just because she says so.

These people are idiots.

The supposed micro-desal plant appears to be a backdoor to develop land without sufficient water on Monterey Pennisula. Before more hotels and golf courses and other non-essential tourist perks are built, the powers-that-be in Monterey ought to think in bigger terms to develop freshwater sources to abet sensible construction. Right now, the whole region is consuming more water than what surface streams and aquifers can produce, and piecemeal solutions such as this desal plant is not a long-term answer. Big players on the pennisula, such as the Balestreri and Panetta clans, Sam Farr and Clint Eastwood, ought to convene a meeting and tackle this pressing issue. Since this water dilemma is a regional issue, perhaps those people ought to recruit their peers on the other side of the bay in Santa Cruz to solve this problem. The Monterey Bay region ought to act in solidarity; all we get now is whining and fragmented answers.

Make it a hooker free zone so Sam Farr has a place to go.
