I have little doubt that Congressman Farr will handily win re-election, safe in his protected Gerrymandered district.

He is a member of the far-left Congressional Progressive Caucus, although Sam Farr is quite a bit smarter and likable than some of the other more infamous members like Congressman Barney Frank, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Congressman Henry Waxman, or Congressman Pete Stark.
http://cpc.grijalva.house.gov/index.cfm...

Just how far left is the Congressional Progressive Caucus? Well, here is an endorsement from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). See page 3.
http://www.dsausa.org/pdf/widemsoc.pdf

"Like our friends and allies in the feminist, LABOR, civil rights, religious, and community organizing movements, many of us have been active in the Democratic Party. We work with those movements to strengthen the PARTY'S LEFT WING, REPRESENTED BY THE CONGRESSIONAL PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS."

As a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Congressman Farr is practically guaranteed re-election thanks to generous campaign financing supplied by out-of-state political action committees (PACs) of various public-employee and labor unions (highlighted in ALL CAPS).

See if Congressman Farr's votes match your particular political beliefs.

Sam Farr does excel at bringing home federal pork-barrel dollars (earmarks) to the district, though.

I wish alternative candidates Jeff Taylor, Mary Larkin, and Eric Petersen all the best. I'm praying for a miracle for one of you.

I also look forward to having our Gerrymandered district redrawn so that it will be more competitive in the future.

"Farr, taking stances often unpopular with Thursday's audience, said he'd continue to push to end poverty and praised this year's health care bill as a means to reduce the deficit and ensure medical coverage for the poor."

Ah, that explains the huge success of Recovery Summer. Thanks heaven those jobs are back, otherwise people would rightfully be considering a regime change. Good lookin' out, Sam.

Vote for Jeff Taylor! Farr has had his chance for 17+ years and has proven he is a miserable failure.

Taylor! He's got my vote--hands down.

Farr is useless, perpetually uninformed about most issues. Career politicians of his ilk are responsible for our nations tragic state of affairs. Time to vote him our of office!

Progressive values?

Progressing towards what?

Many people use this term like it means "the good people" and "people who care", but have they ever asked just what they are being asked to "progress" towards?

There's not 1 in a 1000 who have even thought about this, yet it's a word that "everyone knows" "Everyone" also knows that if you aren't "progressive" you are evil.

Let's look on the bright side. "Everyone" is what the lemmings called themselves as they trotted off the cliff.

Sam Farr, the Burt Talcott of the 21st century.

Burt's record:

1954-1962: Member, Monterey County Board of Supervisors
1962-1976: United States Congressman representing the 12th Congressional district, Monterey Bay. Burt won after redistricting and lost against Leon Panetta one term after redistricting.

Burt always ran on his record of accomplishment as grounds for re-election.

Ha LOL Progressive Values = sc rewing over Americans in favor of corporate interests and illegal aliens. That pretty much says it all about what Progressives are all about and if you don't believe it look at the state of Santa Cruz and California in general. California was once the envy of the world now this state is a pit of despair after 40 years of Progressivism. Farr could care less about the American working man otherwise why would he do everything possible to bring down wages for blue collar Americans. Yes, Farr is doing that by his actions and if you can't see it you're either not cognitive or in favor of it. Farr and his ilk hate America and Americans.

Excellent point. May I suggest an article?

"The Golden State’s War on Itself: How politicians turned the California Dream into a nightmare"
http://www.city-journal.org/2010/20_3_califor...

Progressives were once a somewhat "good" thing, back in the era of Theodore Roosevelt, but it's been downhill ever since. As is describes in the article ...

"What went so wrong? The answer lies in a change in the nature of progressive politics in California. During the second half of the twentieth century, the state shifted from an older progressivism, which emphasized infrastructure investment and business growth, to a newer version, which views the private sector much the way the Huns viewed a city--as something to be sacked and plundered. The result is two separate California realities: a lucrative one for the wealthy and for government workers, who are largely insulated from economic decline; and a grim one for the private-sector middle and working classes, who are fleeing the state."

Good post but you left out one thing and that's that most Progressives are incredibly intolerant of anyone who doesn't think like them. In fact if you disagree or have common sense arguments you're immediately labeled as a bigot, racist, insert pejorative here, and my favorite when coming from dyed in the wool Progressives 'intolerant'. I swear most Progressives today are the other side of the coin of the redneck rightwing they rail against and yet they don't realize(or care) how they act in the same manner. Total hypocrites and proud of it in fact Santa Cruz and the Bay Area in general is probably the most intolerant region of this country and anybody who has traveled around the US and talked to people will realize that. It is literally the same type of mentality one sees in the deeply sheltered South just in the opposite direction.

Thanks for filling in the blanks. Glad to see that others see through the "Progressive" con-game.

But what are we to do with all the students of all ages who have been brainwashed? What are we to do about the teaching staff of all the schools who still think "Progressive" = "Good"? What are we going to do about all the lemmings who don't see they are being "Progressed" into losing their country?

Not a member of the Tea Party but thanks for proving my point about intolerance. You would do well in 1940's Russia or Germany and no doubt you would probably follow orders to 'dispatch' those who opposed your point of view. Good job Homer in proving you have an independent functioning mind.

How many of you really believe this Marxist buffoon can create a single PRIVATE SECTOR JOB? Government job-no problem-lots of them ABOVE private sector jobs compensation. So when everyone works for the govt. how do we exist? The private sector PAYS the bill through taxes while the PUBLIC sector CREATES NOTHING!! AMEN!

Progressive types killed tens of millions in China, all in the name of Progress.

Progressive types killed tens of millions in Bol-shevik Russia, all in the name of Progress.

Progressive types killed tens of millions in the Ukraine, all in the name of Progress.

Progressive types killed millions in Cambodia, all in the name of Progress.

When the "little people" don't share the "progressive" goals of progressive elites, the "little people" must be removed to make way for Progress.

If they don't get out of the way, they are "intolerant" of the programs the elites have concocted "for their own good".

Progressives are not a solution, they are the problem.

What are we to do with them? Nothing since they are Americans and free to make up their minds about what they want for their future. Generally we all want the best for everyone and especially for ourselves since we are in the end united as a country. I believe a lot of people especially now in our rough economic times are angry and fed up with the business du jour and will vote one group out in favor of another but honestly I doubt Progressivism can even prevail much longer since we're broke. When you're broke and you have to downsize because someone else who is able bodied won't carry their load or usurps the system for their own ends you get angry and you take action. Children understand this just as adults do and this recession will turn a lot of people over to a more conservative bootstrap ethic. The prevailing winds are against modern Progressive thinking since its led us to this point. Edmund Brown was a genius...his son is an idiot.

What are we to do with them-not nothing. VOTE them out every where ever they are or we are going to have another civil war.And I mean BOTH parties have Progressives in them. Also I do not want the best for anyone UNDERMINING our country and constitution-I for one will not turn the other cheek! I've already had a conservative bootstrap ethic all my life-in fact I might as well be a depression baby the way I conduct my life but enough is enough. November better bring a change or I'm afraid of what might happen and I don't want it to but I'm ready if it does!

Well Humbug, no. That would be to stoop to the level of the "Progressives". That's not our style.

I think we should just take away their citizenship and ensure they have zero power to influence the real people. Unlike the "Progressives" who have killed hundreds of millions worldwide over the 20th century, we have a respect for human life. Maybe we'll just cut off their balls so they can't make more progressives. Then the rest of us can live in peace.
