So, basically these people complaining about the Arizona law don't agree with the original federal law that people need a visa, green card, etc to cross our border?

Hmm. Are there any other laws on our books that they don't agree with? For instance, are they okay with me tresspassing in their homes? Do they mind if I steal their cars?

Are they comfortable with how aggressively and vigorously Mexico polices its own borders? Do they think that all countries in the world should stop securing their borders?

Look up The Smith Law, signed by President Roosevelt in 1940. It's also called The Alien Registration Act. It requires everyone 14 and old register with the Feds and carry their documents on the 24/7, 365!

One more thing. It's 2010, not 1961!
something has to change

Quote: Bishop Richard Garcia of the Diocese of Monterey issued a scathing criticism Tuesday, calling the law destructive and comparing it to actions taken in Nazi Germany end quote

Unbelievable, beyond clueless
CA has been silently fleeced for years
so have TX and AZ
Our area has turned into racism against American's and other legal Immigrants, most of our resources go to Latino oriented education, single Latina benefits, scholarships for youth but if a young person does not fit a race/color criteria may not apply from the get go.
Even some of the teachers, that did not speak Spanish got forced into early retirement, Teachers hired from South of the border in American Highschool's to cater to our Spanish speaking “minority” that comes out to over 80% in some schools.
Racial fanatics that talk about CA being part of Mexico, therefor have every right to come to CA illegally and take part in social services.
When will our city leaders stand up for ALL the legal citizens?
Enforce the laws already, Thumbs up AZ

Bishop Garcia, you are interpreting the Holy Scriptures to serve your own political ends. Actually, in the 17th Chapter of Acts, verses 22-26, the Apostle Paul proclaims:

...Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. For as I walked around and observed your objects of worship, I even found and altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you. "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live....

Bishop Garcia, the exact places where Mexicans should live is MEXICO, because that is the place that God has determined that they should live. It is totally unfair for nations such as Mexico or El Salvador to wage demographic warfare on this country (or any other country) by exporting the people that they cannot feed, employ, educate, or house to another country. Such a practice has absolutely no place in modern nations, because every nation must be responsible for reducing its population to a sustainable number. Illegal immigrants are a 13 billion dollar annual drain on California's public resources, and it is perfectly legitimate to either demand that no jobs be available to anyone other than the citizens of this country, or that the entire cost of educating, providing medical care and family services, and incarceration of illegal aliens be borne by those who employ them, rather than the citizens of this country. Hopefully, Bishop Garcia, you will cease your silly chatter about "Nazi terrorism", and assist your illegal alien parishioners to return to the lands that God intended for them to occupy.

Bishop Garcia is now playing politics. Another embarrassing moment for the Catholic church if this article has quoted the Bishop correctly. The Bishop is equating the Arizona law to Nazi Germany? WHAT A JOKE---Bishop, you need to crack open the history books again. You should know better than to compare an atrocity like Nazi Germany with the enforcement of laws against illegal aliens. I thought you were an intellectual man who would think before you opened your mouth to a reporter who has a history of misquoting people. With all of the controversy the Catholic church is having to deal with one would think that you would refrain from making a comment to a reporter. If this article is correct, you obviously have jumped on the liberal bandwagon of many who have not even read the Arizona law. Your acting like a politician playing to your Hispanic base. Leave the politics to the Pope.

I am ashamed to hear Illinois has bashed this law. They, nor do other politicians, know anything about Arizona conditions. I do. Illegals stood on street corners, prior to this law, and waited for the employers truck to come by and give them a days work.
Now, the wait in safe houses. The employers should be penalized. I know of a close relative of mine in Phoenix, who has been out of work for 2 years, largely due to illegals. He is a certified HVAC tech. But, employers will hire untrained illegals to do the work. He tries to get jobs like grounds keeping and janitorial work but is only told he is "overqualified". I guess we want Illinois to be the same way. Do you want an ex Mexican criminal working in your yard or fixing your air condidioning? I am really disappointed with my Legislators.

Bishop Richard Garcia shouldn't be critizing Arizona laws, instead, he should critizing the Catholic Church for allowing known pedophile Priests to remain in service by shuffling them around to other diocese's once they are found out.

And for the so called "Leaders" of Monterey County :

I wouldn't expect any less from pro-illegal, pro-cheap AG. labor, pro-sanctuary liberalprogressive/socialist Democrat advocates that expect the taxpayers to fund all the City/County/State Govt. Cheese programs that the illegals and their anchor babies live off of.

You "Leaders" should keep your nose's where they belong, which should be, cleaning up "your own" 24/7 gang ridden, crime ridden Mexi-gettos !

Your priority at the moment is boycotting AZ ?

Shouldn't it be finding the murderer of the six year old child that was killed in his own home a few weeks back ?

You "Leaders" are "beyond" stupid !
