I was a little frustrated when I went to montereyherald.com and saw a photo of a young girl sitting by the ocean during rough waters. I no longer live in Monterey but I was raised there and visit montereyherald.com daily to keep up with what is happening back home. I remember several times growing up hearing about how tourists were swept off of the rocks because they climbed out there to get a better view of our beautiful bay. I certainly hope that the photographer, I assume a local, warned this young woman of the danger. I certainly hope no one sees this pictures, decides that the waves look beautiful and go down to the water to get a better look themselves. I don't want to say that printing this photo was irresponsible, but I would have liked to see a warning accompany the photo. Unfortunately, visitors to Monterey- those who do not live by the ocean, do not know its power. Isn't it our job to inform them?
