What desperation! I'm not condoning robbery, but it's hard not to sympathize with this guy. He probably had no prior life of crime, but when he was laid off from his good job at 48, in the worst economy since the Depression, he probably literally saw NO GOOD OPTIONS, and, so, became a bandit. Would've been just too hard to tell the wife that their ship was sinking fast, and they'd have to launch the row boat into uncertain seas.

Hope he gets another chance...

so if you're sentenced to 12 yrs in prison and ur a good boy you can you be out in, say, 7 or 8 years on parole? By that time he'll only be 57 or 58...maybe he can go back to being a pasta maker again.

The CEOs of The 'too big to fail' banks got bonuses when they stole billion$ from millions of us, so perhaps this guy should get just a $10 fine

Oh please. Try sympathizing with the people who were held at gunpoint by this guy, wondering as they stared down the barrel of his gun if they would ever see their families or even get a chance to look up at the sky again. Every one of these robberies was a serious crime. And I'm sure every person he pointed his gun at thinks he got off easy. There is just no excuse for pointing a gun at people and threatening them with death to get what you want, no matter what your situation, and I'm surprised and disappointed that he didn't get at least 20 years.

The owner of La Esperanza Markets got off with a 3 year sentence. He could have and probably has killed people.
