It's really nice they do stuff like that. Especially for the holidays. It's great to have everybody come together.

i think it is important to allow all the enjoy the gathering but remember before you donate MONEY to many non-profits...according to several friends who quit volunteering....88% of those applying for financial help or free groceries were mexican males under 26 years old. He noticed many drove off in nice cars so i feel people need to be careful about donating money anymore to many of these groups...go give your time but no money

I only donate to people I know.

It would only make sense that you give to charitable groups that you know give to the community we live in. I say, "Keep charity $ local". When you get telemarketers calling about the police youth groups, etc... question them. I have learned that they are not even from this area and that the money you send them goes elsewhere. In fact, never give to anyone solicitating by phone because it just could be a scam. Instead, take your money to the charity and ask them to give you a tax deductible receipt. They will be glad to do this and will appreciate the donation. The fairgrounds "free" meal is a wonderful cause and it definitly is a local event.
