Vote Yes on this critical infrastructure improvement, or suffer brownouts and broken electrical devices in your home! You do not need to be a rocket scientist to see that all the new houses being built will need power. As for the NIMBY crowd that lives by our _PREXISTING_ industrial park and dump, too bad. The (lower)price you paid for your house reflected the pximity to the industrial park, so quit complaining! As for the developers on Reynolds Mountain-- shame on you! Not only are you building the homes that need the extra juice in the first place, but you are educated capitalists ( maybe not)! The envirnmentalists do not have a leg to stand on-- the utility industry is highly regulated from both an emissions and profitability aspects, SO TAKE A HIKE instead of emitting excessive amounts of Co2 at council meetings. Councilmen: This case is a "no brainer"-- do you have any??????? By voting NO on this issue you have just sent a message loud and clear that you do not want jobs in this area, and have no concept of LAW. So much for your living wage initiative.

Wait until the rolling brown outs start occuring in Buncombe and surround area. The NIMBY's will be screaming for someone to do something. The small facility that Progress wants to build produces a good amount of energy and little residual pollution since it does not run 24/7 as do coal fired plants. The NIMBY's need to do their homework rather than taking the knee-jerk reaction they have when anyone mentions power plants. EEEEVVVIIILLLL things.
TXU and other electric producers are building gas fired plants as well as the oil fired plants here and our rates are falling on a regular basis. Of course that may also have something to do with the fact they residents here have a choice of which electric provider they wish to do business with as well as Natural Gas providers.

Ticker: Given your "handle" and the fact you mentioned "TXU" do you collect old ticker tapes-- I do.

Funny that the guy who was speaking against the power plant (guys name is Bobby married, two very young kids) is having a affair with a lawyers wife in Asheville. He met her through a friend who is also friends with the women he is having a affair with. The woman who introduced them works for a non profit in Weaverville. He makes trips up here often while leaving his wife and kids at home under the "business trip" to screw this blonde wife of the lawyer who she also works with in the same office.
Ouch! This should generate the energy the plant could have.
