This is great news. Pushing hard for conservation and renewables is what our leaders ought to have been doing all along. Instead they errantly chose to give Progress Energy a sweetheart $1/year deal to build a polluting power plant upwind of densely populated West Asheville.

While all the Commissioners (and candidate John Carroll) were big fans of the Diesel Power Plant, it was Nathan Ramsey's poor leadership and Wanda Greene's secrecy that led us to the brink of a terrible mistake.

I enjoy a good joke when I hear one - your post doesn't meet the criteria for humor, nor does it advance any sort of discussion on this topic.

I thought kikki was being cute.

Comanche, what about the discussion would you like to advance exactly?

Way to go, Progress Energy. Solar Power is the wave of now and of the future. Congrats. Hopefully your colleague power utilities will follow suit very soon.

Take a look at www.dsireusa.org click on NC to get the programs that are in effect in your State and general area. One recent event SB1878 gives a homeowner a tax advantage on installing solar PV on their homes. IE) Say you install a 50,000 dollar solar PV system on your home, SB1878 says that 80% of the solar PV system appraised value is NOT added to your property tax. If you put 50,000 in upgrades into your home, say a new game room, it would raise your tax burden by the 50,000. With the solar PV it would raise your tax burden by 10,000. If anyone has the money to install solar PV, right now it looks a lot better on return than a trading account at Bear Sterns.
