No doubt it's the tax payers. Free money - you see who all is there. Why just DC residents is what I want to know? I mean hello! we have an entire nation that has to pay that very same bill every month.

Good question. Who is flipping the bill for those who are unwilling or incapable of paying utility bills in Washington DC?
Removing those who are unable to pay bills that everyone in the nation has to pay to a more affordable part of the nation would be better for not only these residents but for the city as a whole.
Washington DC is an expensive city and not many can afford to live here so why not let these individuals move to more affordable places like Md. or Va.? Not fair nor equal to continually subsidize some who are unable to afford living in the city and not fair to those who manage to pay the ever increasing bills such as DC taxes and DC utilities and DC DMV fees.

The elderly should be in the front of the lines. Everyone else needs to get a job.

You mean DC taxpayers. You are right this is happening all over the US now, they should contact their mayor and get the same benefits. This is not a Federal situation, this is DC's issue. If you are not a resident in the District then why are you worried about it? I live and work in DC and defiantly pay taxes (both DISTRICT and Federal) I am not crying about it. People stop looking for things to complain about. If you could help out someone in need is that such a bad thing?

You are truly a token NICCA. LOL, you are so funny to me. Regardless of who you are or what you do. They still see your black @-s-s as just that. You make yourself sound like a damn fool. If you were in a room full of blacks do you truly think they could point you out and say "There's our token" talk to her only. LOL

Whites don't want to help any blacks in DC because they feel most are on welfare or section 8 or looking for a free hand out. I know that is the case for some but not all. The elderly should be taken care of first and foremost. Those that are able bodied and can work need to take care of business.

I agree that the elderly should be taken care of first. What makes you think that the others that were at the convention center don't work? Simply because they need help? With the economy the way it is now, more and more people are going to need help. Although you and I may be blessed for now, we never know what can happen later. I drive a Yukon Denali and complain every time I go to the gas station. I am blessed to have the option of filling my tank up every week with these gas prices to get to and from work and still be able to live the life style that I have. Some people have to decide rather to get gas (to get to work, even metro cost) OR food first for their families. Thank goodness for where you are for now.

Hopefully the assistance will go to those who are truly in need - the elderly, the disabled who can't work, and others in bad situations. With todays' economy, there but for the grace of God go any of us, WE could be the ones in need tomorrow. If there are people trying to get a free handout - and, unfortunately, in any such situation, there are always people trying to get freebies - they should be ashamed of themselves.

Washington DC takes care of her poor and all and anyone in the USA needs to do if in need of shelter and food stamps for the family is to show up at a DC Shelter with the kids in tow and stay until DC hands over section 8 vouchers to get free dc government paid housing if not dc public housing.
Understand that means anyone from West Virginia, Va., N.C., N.M., N.O. anywhere that needs a shelter and food and care can just show up at the Dc Shelters and you will be provided free housing in either dc public housing or section 8 housing vouchers and food stamps.

Just show up at the shelters and families are given priority over singles. Dc just gave hundreds of men shelter and American families can get free homes as well. Just show up and stay in a DC Shelter with the family to get a section 8 voucher or public housing. Silly to be straving anywhere when Dc provides all poor with free help and assistance.

Thats my point stupid. Not all poor people are black. How do you know how many white people were there. Oh I get it you were there even though you live in VA trying to get a little help with your bills to. Why do you not defend your black race and continue to put them down. You rarely have anything positive to say. You are one of those black sisters who is all up the white mans arz arn't you.

Thank you for that. I like you live a comfortable life. You never know when a hardship may happen and you are without a job or any way to supoort yourself and have to depend on help. That is all these people are doing is trying to survive and keep their head above water. That's all!!

You want to be accepted by the whites in your area but guess what black girl they never will. You live in VA where white is right. You probably stick out like a sore thumb and afraid to come out at night thinking that a hate crime will be committed against you. What a sad way to live. Stay in VA, we do not need your kind in DC anyway.
