Swiss-born billionaire Wyss puts $35M into US forest conservation project

Dec 12, 2010 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Winnipeg Free Press

Philanthropist Hansjorg Wyss grew up in Switzerland and now spends the bulk of his time outside Philadelphia, but it is the wild landscapes of the Rocky Mountains where he could leave his most lasting mark.

I'll take it up with, moon unit. The fact of the matter that most conservation is financed and carried out by.......dare we say it, conservatives! Hunters, fishermen and outdoor enthusiast finance most of it. Like, the idiot liberals don't, like you know, have really any clue of, you know, where real conservation comes from.

You trying to say CUNTservatives are the same as conservationists? lol

But in REALITY, if your tiny little brain can handle it, MOST financing of CONSERVATION is from government AND "liberal/Progressive " groups. lol

Check out how much the government gave on this one, over $300 million, lol

"It was arranged by the Nature Conservancy and the Trust for Public Land and also involved $65 million from the state of Montana and $250 million from the U.S. Department of Agricultur"

No libturd, I didn't say that at all. You're brain is so fried from drugs you can't understand anything. However, most of the hunters, fishermen and coporate donors are conservatives.

Where the hell does an idiot like you think the government gets the money???

Fishing and Hunting licenses, land use tax on corporations, donations by corporations.
The Pittman-Robertson Act (also known as the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act) of 1937 charges an 11% tax on the purchase of firearms, ammunition, or archery equipment. Hunters played an important role in getting this law passed, and the money raised goes directly to wildlife conservation and Hunter Education. Hunters provide almost $86 million a year for conservation through this tax—over $2 BILLION since 1937! It is the single biggest source of money collected nationally for wildlife.

Hunters also pay through fees for memberships in organizations such as Pheasants Forever, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, Mule Deer Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, and other conservation groups. The main purpose of these organizations is to conserve wildlife and its habitat, and through these organizations, hunters raise millions of dollars and volunteer thousands of hours to benefit wildlife.

http://www.joincca.org/ . I have been a member for 23 years and we donate billions.

Your name calling and labeling is the mindset of a 10 year old. You inspired the slogan, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."

HaHaHa

So Gore is getting rich trying to save the world? So Bushie had a more eco friendly home.

THIS proves CUNTservatives are more interested in conservation?

lol

Your link pointing to a podcast of HOW friendly Ronnie Reagan was to the environment? lol

"The Reagan administration adopted an extraordinarily aggressive policy of issuing leases for oil, gas, and coal development on tens of millions of acres of national lands -- more than any other administration in history, including the current one,"(Bushie) said the Wilderness Society's David Alberswert

Ronnie:

"trees cause more pollution than automobiles do," and that if "you've seen one tree you've seen them all."

This is not, in other words, a president who demonstrated much ecological prowess.

"Reagan's ignorance in this area is personified by James Watt and Anne Gorsuch, the leaders he selected to head the Department of Interior and the U.S. EPA, respectively. "Never has America seen two more intensely controversial and blatantly anti-environmental political appointees than Watt and Gorsuch," said Greg Wetstone, director of advocacy at the Natural Resources Defense Council, who served on the Hill during the Reagan era as chief environment council at the House Energy and Commerce Committee."

"The list of rollbacks attempted by these administrators is as sweeping as those of the current administration. Gorsuch tried to gut the Clean Air Act with proposals to weaken pollution standards "on everything from automobiles to furniture manufacturers -- efforts which took Congress two years to defeat," according to Clapp. Moves to weaken the Clean Water Act were equally aggressive, crescendoing in 1987 when Reagan vetoed a strong reauthorization of the act only to have his veto overwhelmingly overridden by Congress. Assaults on Superfund were so hideous that Rita Lavelle, director of the program, was thrown in jail for lying to Congress under oath about corruption in her agency division"

The gutting of funds for environmental protection was another part of Reagan's legacy. "EPA budget cuts during Reagan's first term were worse than they are today," said Frank O'Donnell, director of Clean Air Trust, who reported on environmental policy for The Washington Monthly during the Reagan era. "The administration tried to cut EPA funding by more than 25 percent in its first budget proposal," he said. And massive cuts to Carter-era renewable-energy programs "set solar back a decade," said Clapp.

Topping it all off were efforts to slash the EPA enforcement program: "The enforcement slowdown was staggering," said a staffer at the House Energy and Commerce Committee who helped investigate the Reagan administration's enforcement of environmental laws during the early '80s. "In the first year of the Reagan administration, there was a 79 percent decline in the number of enforcement cases filed from regional offices to EPA headquarters, and a 69 percent decline in the number of cases filed from the EPA to the Department of Justice."

"BTB, the greatest conservationist ever was a republican--Teddy Roosevelt'

AGAIN, why do you CUNTservatives ALWAYS use party labels as proof?

Teddy:

He supported racial integration, labor protection, environmental protection and anti-trust regulation.

Teddy was considered a progressive or a liberal for his day. He did many good things and is historically looked on with favor. One thing you might want to learn about ole Teddy is that he expanded the executive branch and government by a huge degree. The current model we have today.

"In foreign affairs he led us into the arena of international power politics, thrusting aside the American tradition of isolationism, while on the domestic scene, he reversed the traditional federal policy of laissez-faire, and sought to bring order, social justice, and fair dealings to American industry and commerce. In all his policies as Chief Executive, he expanded the powers and responsibilities of the Presidential office, establishing the model of the modern Presidency which has been followed by most of his successors in the White House."

http://www.theodoreroosevelt.org/life/biotr.h...

Want to try again?

Teddy passed the inheritance taxes. Food, health and trust laws. ALL known CUNTservative policies right?

Does ANY national CUNTservatives view Teddy as a CUNTservative today? LOL

Run along ideologue!

It's hilarious how you losers went from "global warming" to "climate change" after you got busted in 2007. The best part of political unrest that's taking place in this country? The liberal fallacy that is "climate change" failed to make it through Congress:

THE world’s leading climate change body has been accused of losing credibility after a damning report into its research practices.

A high-level inquiry into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found there was “little evidence” for its claims about global warming.

It also said the panel had emphasised the negative impacts of climate change and made “substantive findings” based on little proof.

The review by the InterAcademy Council (IAC) was launched after the IPCC’s hugely embarrassing 2007 benchmark climate change report, which contained exaggerated and false claims that Himalayan glaciers could melt by 2035.

Phil Jones even admitted the global warming is a scam. Professor Phil Jones, who is at the centre of the “Climategate” affair, conceded that there has been no “statistically significant” rise in temperatures since 1995.

The admission comes as new research casts serious doubt on temperature records collected around the world and used to support the global warming theory.

Top Climate Scientist Admits Man-made Global Warming Is a Farce–

* Data for vital ‘hockey stick graph’ has gone missing
* There has been no global warming since 1995
* Warming periods have happened before – but NOT due to man-made changes

Finally, one of the chief scientists at the center of the “Climategate” scandal admitted this weekend that there has been no significant global warming in the last 15 years.
The Daily Mail Online reported.
Just a farce, only a leftist scam for control and socialist new world order. Ain't workin' no more, bubba. You saw that Nov 2.

Umm, during the LARGEST EVER GROWTH OF MIDDLE CLASS IN THE WORLD, the US had between a 70% and 91% top tax rate

Between 1950-1980 the bottom 90% of US grew their income 75%. The next 27 years(1980-2007) they grew it by 1%. HMM?

Go away with YOUR douchebag revisionist history on CLIMATE CHANGE.

Climate Change Facts

That fossil fuel industry-financed forces are continuing their campaign to undermine the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and its chief scientists should not distract us from what we know about our climate.

Two physical findings stand out. In the last 50 years the world ocean has accumulated 22 times as much heat as has the atmosphere (data provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the Department of Commerce). It is this repository of heat — through processes like evaporation and ocean overturning — that drives the changes in weather we are experiencing: heavier precipitation events, sequences of large storms, bitter cold spells and prolonged droughts in some regions.

The I.P.C.C. 2007 report also found that winds have changed — specifically circumpolar westerly winds (those blowing from the west) in both hemispheres. This ominous sign means that weather fronts and weather patterns are less stable.

I have no problem with taxing the subversive left into submission. After all, turnabout is fair play. No more handouts. No more pensions. No more government unions.

And just for grins, we can have them sign a form granting consent for nanny government to rule their lives....while genuine Americans choose to live free.

And as a perk, we can line their cages with shredded pages of the Constitution that they so despise.

"THE world’s leading climate change body has been accused of losing credibility after a damning report into its research practices."

InterAcademy Council Report Recommends Fundamental Reform of IPCC Management Structure

"The process used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to produce its periodic assessment reports has been successful overall, but IPCC needs to fundamentally reform its management structure and strengthen its procedures to handle ever larger and increasingly complex climate assessments as well as the more intense public scrutiny coming from a world grappling with how best to respond to climate change,"

Right, credibility, you mean by CLIMATE DENIERS LIKE YOU?

http://reviewipcc.interacademycouncil.net/Rep...

Climate scientists form rapid response media team to counter denialist claims

"Our goal is not to become partisan. But if we are going to respond to denialists’ claims which are unfounded in science then perhaps we are going to be viewed as going toe-to-toe with critics.”

"Dave Roberts of Grist.org argued in an excellent post that “centrists” and would-be apolitical scientists would like to dodge the reality that the right-wing conservative movement has become essentially an arm of the fossil-fuel status quo and promotes its position by moving virtually in lockstep to reject the mainstream scientific consensus on human-caused climate change and the need for public action to deal with it.

Many conservatives directly equate climate science with the push for government “cap and tax” regulation of greenhouse gases.

This approach sidesteps any meaningful discussion of either science or policy solutions and does a disservice to the national dialogue on the preeminent science-based issue facing society. Under these circumstances, Roberts says,“speaking the truth is a political act. The only way to escape politics is to lapse into silence.”

Even Bush's house is much more energy efficient than Gores. I proved that to you. So who's the denier, crap for brains?
Go ahead and send big Al more money. It's really entertaining.
You're about a sharp as the end of a BB.
"Even Bush's house is much more energy efficient than Gores. I proved that to you. So who's the denier, crap for brains?"

Apparently you? Did you see me dispute that?

So because Gores's house is more inefficient than Bushie's ranch was in 2002, it means what?

Gawd

Next you'll tell me that the hypocrites of the Repuglithan party have "real family values",lol

I get REAL tired of the lies and distortions of the CONservatives. That's all.
Thanks for info on French "con", lol
You'd like this, I hope: French Pres. Sarkozy was visiting some factory, typical 'photo Op', shaking hands all around... and the TV cameras were rolling... Sarko passed some guy (see Vid: guy in blue shirt) puts his hand on the shoulder, and that man says (in EN for our US readers)

Blue shirt "ah NO! DON'T touch me!" (Ah non! Touches-moi pas!)

Sarko: "Bug off!" (Casses-toi!)

Blue: "You dirty me!"(Tu me salis!)

Sarko: "Bug-off, poor asshole!"

Quite presidential to tell your citizen "Casse-toi, pauvre con!"

Gotta remember Sarko is a Bush-wannabe(!): surrounded by media friends who embellish anything *towards* the right-wing UMP party, and distort anything about the Left...

Sounds very familiar!
