This is the same airline that AA pilots and F/A's want to be a part of.
Be careful what you wish for.

this is a US Airways Express operation. This has nothing to do with US Airways. Before you start bashing up on US know your facts. AA is dealing with the US Airways NOT Piedmont.

Piedmont is a wholly owned subsidiary of US Airways.

Piedmont's management takes their orders from airways. They submit requests to airways for aircraft acquisitions and other high dollar purchases, and while Piedmont has said for years they are looking for more aircraft,dash-8's, so far nothing. I think airways is looking to shut down Piedmont and what better way to do so that letting the employee's do it themselves. Airways has put very little into Piedmont but has added new CRJ's to PSA, another wholly owed regional carrier.
The dash-8's are very old and the availability of parts for the dash-8-100, an aircraft out of production for many years are getting hard to come by.
Piedmont's only growing portion of the company is contract ground handling for other airlines in non Piedmont stations such as some cities in California. We may be witnessing the decline and fall of Piedmont airlines and the Piedmont name.

Having worked for Piedmont airlines for years, I can say that the Piedmont management were told when to jump and how high. Just being management of a wholly OWNED subsidiary does not mean they make all the decisions. Piedmont exists for one reason, to feed the mainline flights at their hubs, CLT,and PHL.
You think just because Piedmont has a set of managers that they act independently of airways, that's not the way it works. Years ago airways merged Allegheny into Piedmont because they both flew the dash-8, and several maintenance bases were closed such as Norfolk and Jacksonville.
All these moves were made by airways management, not Piedmont's. Many dash-8's were returned to the leasing companies over the past years and they fleet today with both the Piedmont and Allegheny aircraft number less than the number of aircraft Piedmont airlines had before the merger. Guess who made that decision?
Its utter nonsense to think that the tail wags the dog.
