Let's see if the politicians give Pfizer any credit at all, after their years of demonizing the pharmaceutical industry.
Drugmakers -- admit it folks -- help save lives. Ever hear of a politician, save the few Republican MDs who have served in office, doing so? What I remember is Jennifer Granholm, Michigan's Democratic governor driving Pfizer and its thousands of jobs out of her state. Busing seniors to Canada to buy cheap drugs (subsidized by American consumers, buy the way -- somebody's got to pay for R&D and the FDA) played no small role in that.

Yeah, viagra is essential to your health. We all need more humans. And no wonder drugs are overpriced; Pfizer likes to play Robin Hood.

Great - my prescription costs aren't high enough - now I have to pay more so free Viagra pills can be given away. Am I the only one with a problem with this??? I would certainly not want people to not be able to get true, life-saving drugs. That said, remember people - the drug companies don't reduce their profits to pay for this - they raise prices for the rest of us.

I can see another Baby Boom on the horizon, with the economy sex is the cheapest form of recreation and having these drugs available will just help it along.

BS me thinks!
Free? I doubt it. Will their bottom line take a hit? Did exuctives, employees take a pay cut, did share holders take a lose to cover the cost of this? Somehow I doubt it. I think people with insurance or the means to pay are or will cover the cost of this good will, not the company.

And according to the article, they require no proof of financial hardship by the way. (asking someone to sign a statement is not proof). Not everyone who loses a job and insurance is in dire financial straits. Many people are in two income families where they can live (albeit maybe not as well) on one salary. And often they can also switch insurance to their spouse's plan. I know, I know - this is not always the case, but it often is. And I suspect some of these folks will also come out of the woodwork to grab the freebie, so our increased prices will be supporting them as well.

Is there no end to this "I'm entitled to something for nothing" mentality? This is going to end in a huge demographic that is utterly dependent upon handouts and wealth redistribution.

I don't know ... I am for charity for those who need it, but it seems like a bad thing when the majority of people claim to need it ... and in turn, begin to demand it.

Scary thoughts for the future.

Are you people stupid? The article clearly states SEVENTY different drugs. Viagra is made my Pfizer, and happens to be their most recognized name aside from Lipitor. Yet here are all these posters whining as if they are paying for Viagra for others.

No, drugmakers don't save lives. They make you dependent on their drugs to keep your body functioning. If drugmakers cured disease you would only need to buy their drugs once and be done. Instead they recommend "regiments"

I don't think so. People with jobs will pay more for prescription drugs.

Unemployed men do not need Viagra. What is this world coming to when that is a necessity?

Keep unemployed patients "loyal" to their brands? The word is addicted.

The drugs aren't free. Their payment will come in upcoming negotiations about health care. They are trying to build good will.
