I am absolutely appalled. This program seems like the first honest and truly educational program that actually acknowledges the reality of what is going on in the high school today. It's not just Clearview, it is all over America that high school children are exposed and participating in all of the aspects spoken of above and more, the difference in our case is this program, which is a key point. In regards to sex related issues, ignorance is not bliss. There is no way that parents can honestly think the teachers and peers of Clearview are condoning sexual activity, however they are taking a proactive stance instead of looking the other way. It is through this program the teens can be educated on the possible options as well as truly knowing the consequences of their actions and how to protect themselves. I for one am completely for this program and support the teachers and superintendents that are working to allow it to continue. Thank you.

I am a senior at Clearview.Okay first off there is a difference between adults talking about sex and students their own age talking about sex! They weren't telling them that SEX is good to have they were telling them that no one can stop them from feeling the urge to have sex and stuff but if they do to use protection! Nothing is racist going on or anything! not even parents could stop their own teenagers from having sex and you can't tell me that these teens parents don't think that anything is going on and not everyone has to go thats y there are PROMISSION slips given out the parents are basically making themselves look bad because they gave their child promission to go to a assembly knowing it was about sex ed and now they are trying to watch their back and claim that Our teen peppers are going out of line well there is no one else to blame for ur promission tolet ur daughter or son go to this assembly besides the person who signed the slip given out! Parents should have thought about things before they even spoke or signed their name! TEEN PEP ALL THE WAY!!!!

I am a parent of a senior who is part of a teen pep class in a South NJ High School. This program is a great program for teens and their parents, it helps them understand the dangers in having unprotected sex. These teens go through a series of evaluation and proper training before they focus their attention on their peers. This program will help them become more open with not only their peers but you their parent. Their main focus is not to promote sexual involvement but to educate their peers on safe sex if they choose to have sex. Also they talk to your teen about open communication with you their parent. Before you dismiss this course in your school you should educate yourself on the program.

Another bunch of stupid parents who haven't a clue as to where their children receive sex education but they sure don't want it to come from schools. They refuse to control their children 24/7 or put them in chains in the garage and since they don't, these dear children of theirs are learning sex from Television, movies, music, magazines; both older geared and those that are geared for teens, peers, who I'm sure get their sex education from the same sources, commercials, news. Have I left anything out? When are parents going to wake up? They live with their heads in the sand. They don't know or at least know very little about sexuality and are embarrassed to talk to their children. Why do we have over 50 percent of marriages ending? Why do most of these marriages have members who are having affairs or cheating? The only parents who speak the loudest are usually those who think their religion should control everyone else. Those are the ones who follow ministers who have no clue as to what their Bible says about sex. Isn't it about time Americans wake up and tell these rabble rousers where to get off!

It's all stupid. Kids can do what they want essentially. What I mean is, if they want to smoke, they'll find time to do it, if they want to have sex, they'll say they are at a friends house or at a party or something innocent. I was a teen once, I know the tricks. Parents want to believe their kids are the best, innocent, without fault. Truth is, no kid is.

That doesn't mean all kids are bad, just all kids try to get away with something one time or another. My point is kids are exposed to things we don't want them to be, on an everyday basis. If they are going to have sex, it's best to teach them the do's and dont's about protection.

Parents seem to think that by not talking about it, it can't happen. That's just obsurd. To be honest most of the kids I see around here, I can gather that the parents don't care a whole lot, and when I see that, yeah, someone has to do the dirty work. It's just a shame it's the schools and not the parents.
