Attaining Residency Depends on Illegal Immigrant's Method of Entry, Time Here and More

There are 1 comment on the story from Apr 27, 2011, titled Attaining Residency Depends on Illegal Immigrant's Method of Entry, Time Here and More. In it, reports that:

Immigration attorney Corinne S. Beth says that illegal immigrants — like many of the day laborers in Brewster — do have options when it comes to attaining legal residency.

According to Beth, a lawyer with the Westchester Hispanic Coalition, the options are extremely broad and most cases depend on several specific pieces of information. Many are risky, as the denial of an application can lead to deportation and a 10-year bar on the illegal immigrant's entrance back into the U.S. After the decade is up, the person can try to enter the country legally.

This is as it should be. If you entered illegally it should be almost impossible to become legal without leaving and reentering legally.
