Theres an opening for assistant store manager at an office depot locally. I was wondering what the salary or hourly pay is starting out at.
Also is it a good company to work for? Pros, cons? Thanks in advance.

Read the threads. Managing in retail sucks, managing at Office Depot sucks even more.

It ranges anywere from 34k - 41k a year. I cant say exactly because there are alot of factors like location and experience.

I would apply. I mangaged as an asst for over 8 years and loved it. The desert cities are the best as well. Three excellent stores. Trust me. With Depot now 13 years.

did you know this is an Office Depot thread? How would a former OD employee know about ALDI work conditions?

Don't work at OD as an assistant manager unless you like stocking shelves and ringing on a register. That's what "managers" do at OD.

These days that is the truth. But hey at least you're making 18 dollars an hour doing it.

but no one mentions that "managers" are paid hourly and on a decreasing scale after they work 48 hours. Your pay sometimes goes as low as $7/hr!

If you are a teenager and need a job OD is the place for you...but if are looking to make money OD is not the place for you.. Trust me i work there right now bc OD is like my back up job for everything bc i showed OD i can do everything for them and i know everything OD Offers and i know how to do my job.. But the only way you can make money in OD is to be a manager why i say bc I work at the one in Indiana and from what i hear we are the lowest paid compared to other stores around.... $7.25 that's sad to say bc of how much you have to learn and know is not worth $7.25hr $9.00hr would be a hell of a lot better. stop payin your managers so damn much bc they half the time don't do shit. A manager should really only be getting paid somewhere around 12hr and top out at 16hr nothing more..Hell i do more than the managers and the store manager combine. So if you want to know the inside of the OD you can just ask me.
