Greece's economic troubles have the world's attention, but Greek currency from another era is taking the spotlight this week in New York. A collection of more than 600 ancient Greek coins is expected to fetch millions of dollars when they are put up for auction Wednesday. British coin expert Paul Hill says collectors consider ancient Greek coins to be some of the finest and most artistic money ever produced. The coins depict such iconic ancient Greek images as gods, minotaurs, and Alexander the Great in battle.

Selling your national treasures for paper is not something to be proud of. I guess making fun of is the way you guys deal with depression.
Selling national treasures? Who's selling them? Certainly not the Greek government. World treasures from around the world are being auctioned everywhere which unfortunately are usually stolen. If evrything Greek was returned to Greece it would have the bigget museum on the world? What does FYROM have to show the world? Nearly everything in their museums are Greek anyways. If FYROM wants to contribute against world illicit antiquities' tradings they should empty their museums and ship the contents back to Greece. they can keep their statue since it was not made in antiquity but is a kitsch contraption.

why would we purchase greek coins. we like it when the world cherishes all things greek. you see the world readily believes in hellenism including that macedonia is greek. unlike you looooosers who have no friends except the turks who would just as soon make you slaves as look at you
