This is the same post I made on USA Today about the 8 people being shot in LA (Gang shooting):

Gangs, Thugs, Gunman in any vernacular are Terrorists. It doesn't matter which part of the world your neighborhood is in. It's about time law enforcement in these terrorist enclaves use anti-terrorist tactics to control the scum that shoot up our neighborhood streets and kill, or wound our residents. There is no doubt those who serve and protect know the where abouts of these gangs, the territories they control, and who the snakes are that lead them. It is about time law enforcement agencies around the country conduct anti-terrorist operations to rid our neighborhoods of these vermin.
----------

The JSO says the gang problem here isn't as bad as other places. Well, then it should be that much easier to eradicate them.

This was not one of you best pieces. I went into this 2 part article looking for information on the current status of possible gang violence in the area and came up completely empty handed. There is very little information here that is useful to the public at large and would be just as interested in an article about lane closures. 1 out of 5 stars TV12.

Ending gang violence is simple. Just paint over the grafitti, and stake out the place where the painting is happening. When someone approaches the area with a spray can to paint it, shoot him in the head, and all of his freinds. Then donate his organs to someone who deserves them. Once a freind of mine had a small used car lot, and some punks were coming by at night and spray painting his cars. Numerous calls to the police brought no changes, so he decided to stake out the lot at night. In a few days, he caught this punk painting one of his cars at 230am, and he knocked him out cold. When the punk woke up, my freind had spray painted his face, mouth, ears, eyes, genitals, asscrack- no orifice was left unpainted, and every spray can was used up. It was a work of art, really, the punk was the canvas, and my freind painted a picasso. Funny thing, no one ever painted his cars again- ever.

"MS-13 is considered one of the most violent gangs around, terrorizing its own and taking advantage of those who are in the United States"

We are spending billions in tax dollars on "The War on Terror" when we have terrorism in our own backyard! We need to stop trying to be the global police and start taking care of ourselves. Most of these gangs don't even know the history of who they represent because T.V. shows like "Gangland" glorify this behavior. Music video's glorify, if not exagerate the benefits of being a gang member.

Ok, I am just waiting for a post that says JSO just wants more money, they are the biggest gang, they are ignoring the problem, blah, blah, blah.

I just saved you the trouble so you don't have to post those retarded comments.

I TOTALLY AGREE THIS IS TERROR. MS13 SHOULD BE HANDLED LIKE ALQIDA OR HAMMAS. ASK YOURSELF HOW WILL OBAMA AND HILL HANDLE THIS. HOLD A MEETING WITH THEM AND ASK THEM TO STOP AND GIVE THEM MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND FOOD STAMPS. I MUST FAULT ALL PRESIDENTS FROM RAGAN TO BUSH. THEY ALL LET THIS HAPPEN WITH OUR DECLAIRING WAR ON THESE INVADERS WITH OUR ARMY AND NAT GUARD. WE SEE STORIES OF THEM BEING DEPORTED AND RE-ENTERING TO COMMIT CRIME AGAIN. I WOULD RATHER WE WASTE THEM ON THE SPOT. SEND THERE REMAINS BACK TO WHERE EVER.

It is my belief that every time a child in JAX is in trouble of any sort at any age, up to 18, the parents should have to undergo mandatory parenting classes -- because, politically correct or not, the problems start in the home. Most families never lay down rules, don't eat meals together, bring men or women into their home, and the parents don't know how to parent!!!
Until the churches and the law get together on this, nothing will change. Parenting classes are the answer -- especially for those who are pregnant before 21 years and without a husband!!!!

I JUST READ THE FOX NEWS STORY ABOUT THE GANG SHOOTING IN LA.
IT STATES TWO GANG SHOOTINGS IN THE LAST WEEK IN DAY LIGHT WITH NO REGUARD FOR INNOCENT PEOPLE. WELL INNOCENT INVADERS WHO ARE NOT LEGAL CITIZENS THAT IS. IT STATES HEAVELY ARMED COP ENTERED AN AREA THAT HAS BEEN INHABITED BY GANGS FOR DECADES. NOW AGAIN HOW DID WE ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. THIS MUST BE LAID AT THE FEED OF OUR LEADERS.
LACK OF ACTION TO TAKE BACK AMERICA AND THE AMERICAN DREAM THAT HAS BECOME A NIGHTMARE. THE BORDER WALL SHOULD GO ALONG THE BORDER WITH ARIZONA AND CALF....

Concerned Resident - that would be a start. I would add, mandatory parenting classes AND ongoing supervision for all parents who are on any welfare. That would not be undue government intervention, since they're choosing to take money from the government -- it would be requriment. And if the parenting isn't up to standards, after a chance to correct, they lose the govt. check. In the long run, it would save money.

Bad parenting, or lack thereof, is part of the problem, but it's not always the reason. There are plenty of bad kids out there with good parents. I believe discipline in homes has come to a screeching hault. Parents are lax, or afraid to enforce punishment due to repercussions (whatever those repercussions might be). Our family is on the go with multiple sports activities. It's almost impossible to have a sit-down family meal during the week, but we are a good, strong family just the same. I agree with you...discipline starts in the home, but not every bad kid is a product of bad parenting. Tough love for some means washing your hands with a loved one, but it doesn't always work in the best interest of everyone involved. I do believe those in gangs don't really have much of a family life, and those parents either don't care, or have given up. Gang members believe their gang is their family. Personally, I would use every resource available before my kids spun so far out of control and became involved in gang activity. Thankfully, they're too busy with sports and school to get in trouble. It's extremely difficult raising young adults these days!

It certainly seems typical of local news outlets that the article on gang activity is specifically devoted to talking about how little of a gang problem we have here in Jax compared to the areas with the worst gang activity in the country.

I like how the police officer is quoted as saying that the gang related graffiti is probably not even being put up by gang members.

Odd how we have the highest murder rate in Florida but our gang problems are nowhere near those in Miami. I guess we just have a lot of individually motivated thugs, but since they canít be part of a gang (since we donít have a gang problem in Jax), all of our murder victims and their families should be relieved at the great job our law enforcement is doing in protecting us from graffiti.
