Rupert Murdoch's Tabloid Culture

Mar 1, 2012 | Posted by: Mr_Bill | Full story: www.newyorker.com

A tabloid culture runs amok.

On March 21, 2002, a thirteen-year-old English schoolgirl took the train home. Usually, she took it all the way to Hersham, seventeen miles from London, where she lived, but on that day she got off one stop before, at Walton-on-Thames, to get something to eat.

Murdoch, his family, and his associates are human slime; his organization, an affront to real journalism not to mention truth itself. There's nothing to which he and his circus of pigs wouldn't stoop.

I don't know about his family (other than 'Master James,' of course) but you're right about the rest. Yellow 'journalists' all the way!

Geez, that article is from 6 months ago!

But, Murdock STILL looks better than Obama's fawning, slavering, leg-chills (and uninquisitive) LSM

To right wing extremists, lies, distortions, and propaganda always look better, as do billionaire yellow journalists.

They are the "fawning, slavering" ones, paying homage to Fox News liars while whining about the moderate, corporatist mainstream media's "liberalism" if not outright "Marxism."

The modern American right is disconnected from reality.

Billionaires controlling the press? Ya mean like Soros? Like JounOlist, that was effectively media collusion to promote the "black guy"? Like Soros'$1 million donation to PBS to hire 100 reporters? Like the Columbia Journalism Review, which received $600,000 from Soros' OSI? Or the rest of the (over)$48 million that Soros has spent since 2003 to control the media narrative? Like the "journalism schools" that Soros has set up? Like that?

The mainstream press has thrown away ALL pretense of credibility over the past 5 years.
They had "leg chills" over the "smartest man in the world". So smart that his IQ was "off the charts". Of course, this was for a guy who took great pains to cover up his past (which the press was shockingly uninterested in). A guy who is remembered by extremely few early acquaintances. You'd think that if he were so smart that his peers and teachers WOULD have remembered him, wouldn't you? Had Obama been a Repub, the press would have DEMANDED, in no uncertain terms, his entire past, back to, and including, his conception. Yeah, the press was slavering.

And then there's talk radio and Fox. The rebels that refuse to comply, and are under attack for not kowtowing to the narrative. The Left is not content to legitimately and factually confront their opponents (maybe because the Left has a dearth of facts). The Left is trying to kill or control all opposition. And Obama has been an active participant in the attempted assassination. Obama's FCC tried to re-impose the "Fairness Doctrine", has tried to control the Net, has tried to exclude opposition reporters, they have attempted to demonize the opposition, etc.

Yeah, we see what the Left is, how they act, and what they want
They want control, total control - of others

Sorry, we're not handing control over to idjits that cannot control themselves (or anyone else)

Hilariously dishonest. Soros is the guy you clowns ALWAYS bring up, and yet he has a fraction of the control exercised by THREE rightie billionaires, Murdoch and the Koch Bros. Your lies about the Fairness Doctrine show both the depths of your dishonesty AND your fear of fairness, something the Right hates almost as much as telling the truth!:)

Do you consider that to be some sort of refutation?
Did you address any of the issues?
No, and No

Soros gets tossed out there because while the Left wails about the $40 million that the Koch brothers have publicly donated to their favored causes, Soros, over the same time, has donated $$Billions, much of it secretive and/or laundered. Soros has made his intentions plain, and that is to overturn our form of government and way of life, and make a "tidy" profit for himself. And as an avowed Fabian Socialist, he doesn't give a rats backside what the cost is to others. Another thing about Soros is that the spiderweb of deceit always leads back to him. Tides Foundation? Associates of Soros. Center for American Progress? Soros founded and funded. PBS? Paid, by Soros,$1 Million to hire 100 "reporters", who of course (gag), will be "unbiased" (double gag). Media Matters? Soros, again. Democratic Shadow Party? Soros. Open Society Institute? la Familia Vota? ACORN? Secretary of State Project? Annenberg Foundation? AlterNet? Factcheck? ALL with Soros connections. And there are over 100 other organizations seriously affiliated with Soros, directly, and hundreds of others with indirect connections.

Murdock? So he owns FNC. So what? FNC is up against the rest of the alphabet soup of broadcasters. Yet, for some reason, they're beating the pants off of the rest of the competition. Perhaps its because FNC isn't part of the echo chamber that lets the WH write their scripts for them. The rest of the media simply repeat what's been regurgitated to them as if it's Gospel, and not the vomit that it really is. A classic example was when Obama cited Media Matters to validate his claims, and it turned out that Media Matters got their info from the WH, and repeated it, nearly verbatim. Then the rest of the media had the gall to recited Obama's assertions, including the "fact" that Obama's assertions had been vetted. This was nothing more than pandering at it's finest.

You'll have to get back to us with proof of your claims. I assume you were going to do that? That you can prove that Soros spends this much more than the Koch Bros. and all the other billionaire conservative, Republican donors? That he's plotting to "overturn our government and way of life," etc?

Because right now, it looks like you're a partisan liar. A really BIG partisan liar.

You're right, he should have addressed the issue of your partisan stupidity, propagandizing, and just plain bullsh--ing. "Echo chamber?" Clearly that's where you live, Rightie douchebag. You're incapable of ascertaining the truth and pretend that regurgitation of talking points is "discussion of the issues."

LOL! Get lost.
