Obama Minister Under Scrutiny

Barack Obama's Chicago minister, the Rev. Jeremiah White, is under fresh scrutiny, after an ABC News report Thursday shed light on some of his controversial sermons. In one delivered last December, Wright argues Hillary Clinton's road to the White House is considerably easier than Barack Obama's because of his skin color.

Wright's sermon shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorism attacks is also under scrutiny, during which he said America had brought on the attacks with its own practice of terrorism.

Obama and Wright have long been close. Obama has been a member of Wright's church since his days in law school, and Obama's bestselling book, The Audacity of Hope, takes its title from one of Wright's sermons. Wright also married the Obamas and baptized their two children.

I received the following email from a relative:
Quote...
I copied and pasted the ABC news article and I also attached the website link. I'm
a very spiritual person, believing that this country was founded on beliefs in God.
I agree that our country believes in freedom of religion and I do not condemn anyone
for not believing the way I do HOWEVER I don't believe the faith of a leader of this
country should be questionable. I have strong feelings about Barack Obama - He
scares me to death. I did listen to one of the sermons of Jeremiah Wright but I
didn't forward it because it was a recording and therefore I really couldn't prove
that it was him. But it was horrible to listen to and, in fact, I didn't listen
through all the way. He is racist and anti-American. He blatantly believes that
his people (he calls them Black Africans) are repressed because of the white nation
and is in the highest of hopes that Obama can move forward and "reverse" the effects
of slavery. And all of this doesn't even touch on the Muslim undertones that
Obama's campaign is riddled with. Do you want a first lady that feels comfortable
saying that this is the first time in her adult life that she's been proud of her
country. Come on! And I'm not even going to get started on the Palestinians - who
hate Israel, want it to fall and want to take its land. If you don't know your
bible history, just read up on it. No people bearing sword against Israel will
survive. Politics are horrible but this is the process laid down by our forefathers
to elect leaders with a majority vote. And while we all have the right to support
who we want to support, we also have a right to pass our opinions along. This man
performed Obama's marriage and he thought enough of him to let him baptize his two
daughters. I listened to the sermon that is referenced below. Toward the end of
the sermon Jeremiah Wright said "God has got to be sick of this sh**!" I'm not
apologizing for this one. End Quote

The next post will be the ABC article.

Consider the following:

Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God
damn America."

Is Obama's Pastor a Liability?
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United
Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's
campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the
United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."

In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my
church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old
uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that
everyone has someone like that in their family.

Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is
credited by Obama for the title of his book, "The Audacity of Hope."

An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the
church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his
reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.
"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike
law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America,
that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God
damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as
long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept.
11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own
terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands
in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a
sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.

"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South
Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now
brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to
roost," he told his congregation.

What Has God Got To Do With It?

IMAGINE THIS:
“I don’t give a goddamn,” Obama retorted.“I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”

“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said.“There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Obama screamed back.“It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

CHRIST JESUS' PHILOSOPHY on POLITICS: According to a born-again Christian.
Tom Brokaw is serving as moderator and asks for viewers' questions, getting this: "What political philosopher or thinker ... do you most identify with?"

Candidate Steve Forbes came out with John Locke. Candidate Alan Keyes came out with the Founders. The question was repeated:

"Governor Bush, a philosopher-thinker and why."

Bush: "Christ, because he changed my heart."

Questioner: "I think the viewer would like to know more on how he's changed your heart."

Bush: "Well, if they don't know, it's going to be hard to explain. When you turn your heart and your life over to Christ, when you accept Christ as the savior, it changes your heart. It changes your life. And that's what happened to me."

"And of course Mr. Bush can hardly endorse unrestrained capitalism and pursue the grace of Christ. Those who worship capitalism to sacramental lengths are defiantly anti-Christian, like Ayn Rand and her utterly unholy Objectivists, and that branch of libertarianism which acknowledges only the market as authority, practical or moral." -- William F. Buckley Jr.

THE DIFFERENCES ARE IN PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: "goddamn"
(When a black minister uses the word; "goddamn",{within the context that: "GOD is damning America"}, he is demonized as an "INTERNATIONALLY THREATENING MILITANT of BLACK-TERROR", but when a "born-again, Caucasian male" president of one of the world's most powerful nations uses the word; "goddamn", to "TRASH" the American Constitution and all which has been sacrificed, respecting it's principals, the so-called CHRIST-LIKE Evangelical CONSERVATIVE Republicans are proving to themselves and most importantly, to the world, that many of them are belligerently "self righteously blind cannon fodder shills" presenting themselves as the "Children of Lucifer" for the sake of the so-called "New World Order".
And, "INTERESTINGLY SILENT" regarding Bush's us of the word, "goddamn"....ESPECIA LLY IN REGARD TO THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION.)

I wondered how long it would be before someone blamed President Bush for Wright's sermons (as they blame him for seemingly everything else that is evil or unjust in this world).

obama lost the election. He upset too many white American's and some blacks. It's too late for him to apologize for wright's anti american racist comments. Instead he excused them.
And while the media tries to sweep it under the carpet, the truth is still in the minds of many angry American's.

You drew the comparison in your little harangue.

You're letting a near socialist off the hook because of his skin color, and you're demonizing Bush and his lower tax policies I guess??? as non Christian.

You're really reaching on this one, when Obama is the perfect example of the party of cutting up little children and vacuuming them out, then throwing them away to the tune of 3 million a year or so. The party of homosexual marriage, of partial birth abortion, of the ACLU and its anti-Christian but pro Wiccan and pro Muslim agenda.

I vote conservative because I want the government to be smaller, not because I need it to be a nanny or make my religious decisions. I do agree with you that it's a shame that Bush was too liberal in his policies ;->

You think you can respond to me in kind and with focus or are you going to call me names, too?
