Kevin, I've watched Channel 30 for years and if the Red Sox aren't playing, it's the only station I watch. I live right down the street at the YMCA here in New Britain. I have a New Britain Red Sox baseball and know that Schilling played for them in 1988. I also may have played against Wakefield in Florida. I played for Rockledge, I believe Wake played for Sattlelitte or South Beaches. I e-mailed Tim and mentioned the ball, also, asked if I could meet and get a signed shirt and ball and maybe go to a game early and hang out. I look forward to hearing from you, when you have time. God Bless you and your family Kevin. Tell me what you thik of the ball. I'm a graduate student at Liberty University, with hopes to finish my MA in Pastoral Counseling and/or Health and Wellness. From a Biblical standpoint I'm getting beaten in the spirit and failing miserably... satan is brutal. Keep on - Keepin on Mr. Nathan.
Tell everyone I said hello! Joe

My name is Scott Wojnarowicz and I am the track and field coach at Capital Preparatory Magnet School.
On Monday, April 14 2008 I am hosting a historic event in CT: The Trailblazer 5000m at Rocky Hill High School. This event will mark the first time a girls' 5000m has ever been run on the track; even though boys have had the chance to run this event in state for years. We plan to have several members of the national track and field media at the event and thought it might make for a good story as the girls compete to break the state record.
Below is a copy of the information for the event:
Trailblazer 5000m Invitational
Sponsored by Capital Preparatory Magnet School
Hosted by Rocky Hill High School
What: FAT timed 5000m outdoor track race (girls/boys)
Where: Rocky Hill High School
When: Monday April 14, 2008 (Weather date April 16) 4:00pm
Both NFHS and CIAC mission statements culminate by noting the ambition of providing “equitable opportunities” for athletes, however, some sanctioned track meets in Connecticut fall short of this. While there are at least two in-state opportunities for boys to compete in the 5000m during the CIAC outdoor season, there are currently no publicized chances for girls. In fact, a recent research effort has resulted in no evidence of a Connecticut meet ever offering girls a chance to participate in this event.
Despite the infrequency of in-state 5000m competition during outdoor track seasons, the only Connecticut athlete to earn 2007 National Champion status and the best individual girl performer at the same year’s National competition were participants in this event. The Trailblazer 5000m was created to meet the needs of ALL Connecticut distance runners.
In the spirit of the Gerry Lindgren 5000m held in Seattle, along with many distance carnivals nationwide, I want to offer a unique opportunity for Connecticut distance runners to compete for personal, school and state records. The 5000m only event will give BOTH boy and girl athletes a chance to compete while keeping the costs of a FAT timing system, required to validate such records, to a minimum.
