Foolish lies, by a bankrupt political philosophy. You union haters have ruined the US economy. Why don't you clean up your mess, before making more?

This late in the game, I don't know why the IAM is still against the merger. They should be working on how to integrate not how to stop something that is going to happen anyway.

Times a wasting and the IAM is wasting time.

I have an idea. Let's do collective bargaining.
Collective bargaining occurs when management
gives and unions take.
What is bankrupt are companies with those
outrageous benefit packages that unions have saddled them with. Companies teter on the edge
before unions agree to stop the bleeding, and then it is too late. Some unions go on strike anyway,
and then wonder why they lose their jobs. They
think that their employer is kidding. When
you bite off the hand that feeds, there is no hand to feed. I guess unions will feed their
workers when jobs are lost, right?

No kidding..typical IAM...they are more worried about keeping those damn gray/black books then they are just securing jobs..and all those fat slobs that "run" the IAM are pooping thier pants right now because gasp! they might actually have to get their asses out there and really work for a change..if they even get their jobs.

Yeah.... tell it how it is. The American worker should not have a pension or health benefits. We should pay for our own pension and health insurance through the 401k and HSA'S. how can a company survive having these outrageous costs. We should pay 15% SS instead of 7 1/2% why should the company pay our SS. Insane! And Americans need to take more paycuts to keep the job's here.
BoBob you truly are a true American with such deep insight of unions.

You got that one wrong pal...Unions have destroyed America's schools, manufacturing, police and firefighters, construction, nursing, etc. The list goes on and on with the professions Unions have destroyed. Unions have outlived their usefulness and now only abuse the system!

So, this is surprising? Of course this will hurt workers....duh!!!! And the economy once again will sink another inch. Low paying jobs...no jobs... how are you going to pay your bills? Anyone who voted their union brothers and sisters out of a job, will now be on the street. And Ken, if you live in BHM and work for Delta or one of their commuters then you my friend are soon to be un-employed...sorry. If I'm wrong I will be very suprised. They have vendors out there that will take your job for half the cost. So you don't want a union, fine. You should put your applications in to all the vendors in BHM now, because when the merger is final in November you will have a very short time before Delta uses them.

Disagree, if companies didn't have to spend tens of millions on labor lawyers fight greedy union leaders, they could avoid outside vendors. You say it yourself, the IAM lost you your job. Actually you can blame MSP and DTW and your union "brothers". the language had more protections for them than outstations and the union knew damn well that throwing a bone to the hubs would affect the vote by sheer numbers. How stupid can the unions be. Unions are not about protecting high paying jobs, they are about dues. Part Timers equal 2 for 1, One FT pays $51 mo dues. Two PT's pay $102.00 a month in dues. You do the math.

In the old days, unions served a good function for safety and security, now the union leaders are just as bad as any greedy CEO.

Delta had outsourced their cargo operation but recently brought their own employees back to work. That proves that companies prefer direct employees. But you have to have cost controls or you can't stay in business and no one works.

Think about it

I think it's funny that so many on here think companies like 3rd party. Quite the opposite. But until

What are you disagreeing with? All I stated is that those stations in outsourced areas of NWA will be outsourced when it becomes Delta and to the ame vendor who is working NWA in those stations. What cities did Delta recall thier employees and what is the real reason for doing so? Dig deep. Do you really think that if the stations like BHM are being worked by a vendor for NWA and they are performing as well if not better then they did before outsourcing, do you really think they will spend the money and bring back DL employees. No way! You are right about thhe PT vs. FT union dues. I was full time and I did not think a PT employee should have paid as much as I did. They did not get the same benefits as I did, therefore they should of never of been raised to the same as ful timer. The question you should ask is why did the dues go up so much and why did PT pay there same as FT all the sudden. It is simple....preperation man! They knew outsoucing was coming and they knew that the FT to PT ratio would change as well. The IAM is a crooked Union, no doubt. And DL and NWA are crooked too. They will put as many employees out of work as they possibly can....remember there will be executives from NWA crossing over to Delta and when they do they will push for stations to be outsourced and they will bring with them all the stats they need to make their case. We will talk about this a year from now and you will see then I am right. There will be more vendor employees then there will be airline employees.

I agree 100% with what you said. I worked 33 years for NWA in BHM and would have never thought my job would have been outsourced. After the way we were treated by NWA, dont think for a minute it can't happen to you. If DL/NW can save $1.00 they will and could care less about the employees losing there jobs.

I did not say that there should no pensions and benefits, but that they are outrageous in their
scope. You cannot take what companies do not have,
and expect to compete in the marketplace. What
you accomplish is to weaken your employer, who
has to raise prices to cover increased costs.
The airlines are merging to survive, or else
go under, costing JOBS. I think any true American
can understand this.
By the way, have you ever had to meet a payroll?
Try it sometime when there is barely enough
money to pay bills. It ain't fun.
No employer objects to paying employees when
business is good. But when the ship starts
to sink, and you are still making harsh demands,
eventually you go down with it. And the union
chiefs could care less, because they are not
paying for the benefit packages. It is always
easy to spend the other guy's money.

boob, your entire debate was blown out of the water by this line; "weaken your employer, who
has to raise prices to cover increased costs."

The airlines have been under charging for years. Is it the workers fault? NO If you can't run an airline then get out and let someone who knows how to in. jmo

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Sagittarius

You'll feel friendly with everyone you meet today, and you might even be lucky financially. Money should be coming in, but going out rather fast as well... Astral influences will keep you on your toes, and will probably make you flirtatious, but they could also make you moody. This makes it tricky for close relationships to run on an even keel. The truth is, perhaps you don't want too much closeness at the moment. Your partner probably knows that you're often like this, by now, anyway.
