All because the flight crew didn't follow the checklist and let the flaps down before takeoff. What a shame.

Don't believe everything you read. ATC assigned this aircraft the shortest runway in DTW, while the aircraft was loaded with passengers, baggage, and fuel for its longest flight. This crash was just one of many, from Reagan's PACO union busting. After the PACO, the ATC had full control. If you refused the runway assigned, ATC would run you all over the airport to get the runway you needed. Then the Crew would get faulted for the departure delay. I don't care what the NTSB says... that aircraft was on the wrong runway. I am betting that there were a lot more circuit breakers popped than just the slat/flap warning. Also the NWA ripping apart the Rublic contract, is far from blamless in this. Greed cost us all... in many different ways!!

How come you didn't report RA was running the ATC that day? Are you mellowing? Regardless of the cause, it was a terrible day.

Yes it was, I was there. However, the cause was not solely the crew. Most times - you get what you pay for. Bust up an established system and it takes years/decades to rebuild it.
