Inspiron 1420 and 8400 M GS Nvidia Card

When computer starts immediately shows a split screen (one on top of the other). Desktop comes with split screen and low resolution display.
Device manager shows a message that Nvidia card had been disconnected by Windows (Error 43).
If I uninstall driver sometimes it starts-up correctly but after a few minutes (10-15) it either freezes or shuts down. The new start comes again with split screens.
Already downloaded and installed Nvidia recommended driver 280.26
Any suggestion? Do you think it is a hardware or a software problem.
