So, PennDOT, you're telling us that a company the size of Norfolk Southern cannot handle making a repair to a approximately 10 x 20 foot (200 square feet) before the spring that is damaging cars on a daily basis?

Not even a temporary repair (that heaven forbid) might require a touch-up before the permanent repair in the spring?

And PennDOT is incapable of scheduling off-hours work to do a temporary repair?

What an absolute, positive crock. I've hit that section of the tracks, not knowing what I was coming up on (at road speed, through a green light). I thought the tires were going to blow when I hit it. The drop is several inches, with a sharp edge to the far side of the drop-off. The front end alignment, of course, is now shot.

Hey PennDOT engineers, go back to school and learn something useful. Like how to think of alternative solutions instead of just blowing things off.

Temporary steel plates are used on a daily basis during road repairs. You're telling me that you cannot fit an appropriately sized steel plate over that RECTANGULAR, FLAT, REINFORCED piece of concrete that has the base sinking (hence the drop in the section), bolted down with an appropriate amount of Grade 8 bolts to create a temporary raised area???

Tell me where I can apply for a refund of my taxes - they are certainly not being used in an intelligent manner!

Norfolk Southern is the most uncooperative organization around (although Springettsbury Township comes close). How many projects have they screwed up or delayed? North Hills Road, Memory Lane, the constantly-delayed Concord Road project, and the new "constantly delayed" project at Davies Road. They always seem to delay things then screw them up. Guess they don't like anything if it doesn't go choo choo.

No sir (or madame), I'm fed up with total incompetence with the money that is taken from our collective paychecks on a weekly basis and wasted on half-ass projects and not putting it to what it should be used for or used intelligently.

The "fix" on I-83 strip is costing the taxpayers (you, me, and the rest of the county/state residents) another ***8 MILLION DOLLARS***. 8 MILLION dollars, additional time lost being stuck in traffic again for one lane construction, etc. There is absolutely no excuse for the level of incompetence in managing these projects. I'm not "bitching about it", I'm pointing out the obvious - it was an extreme example of a poorly designed fix to a problem that never should have happened in the first place.

"Yup, we fixed it...." "Er, no, we didn't, but we'll spend another 8 million to really fix it later this year..." - PennDOT

As for you "handle it, handle it, handle it", you're darn right I would. I'd do the temporary fix that will stop being a traffic hazard and bill No-thing Doing Central for it. The area does not even have a warning sign near it advising drivers that they are about to hit something that'll take the front end out of your car at posted speeds on the road.

Speak to something intelligent or back away from the keyboard.

They fix it tomorrow, and next day you would find something else to bitch about! By the way, it is "MR.". Check my post name that YOU highly recommended! Matter of fact, only MADAME I ever knew was Kenny's mom down on Queen Street!!! Handle it! Handle it! Handle it!
