"...the better way to electronically measure traffic is to put monitoring equipment inside vehicles..."
Yes, INSIDE the vehicles, not only showing the where and when but the HOW MUCH.
Now these jerks can just MAIL us a traffic ticket for speeding, kind of like the red-light cameras, but worse. Same thing with left turns, one way streets, school zones, etc.
What ever happened to self incrimination?
Our government at work.

As for the Chicago area, if you have some bizarre aversion to public transportation, here's a link to a search result on a rideshare website that allows you to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. http://www.erideshare.com/carpool.php...
Unless you're chicken and/or anti-social.

For all of us in Chicago this article fails to mention that IDOT uses those IPASS devices to monitor the traffic flows. Imagine that, using equipment inside the vehicles. IDOT has put monitoring devices on light polls throughout the expressway system. This is how they give you all those times on overhead signs. Also it is how the Illinois State Police catch criminals.
