Long Island building owners are still expected to pay the highest real estate taxes in the country for real estate that has been uninhabitable since hurricane Sandy! These buildings contain renters and small businesses. They in turn demand rent from their renters. Suffering, privation and homelessness abounds, but "the man" still ruthlessly demands property taxes from those whose homes are damaged and uninhabitable and from those whose businesses are closed due to storm damage.
When are Long Islanders going to stand up and say no to this insanity? Stand up for their neighbors when they are down? Stand up for their neighbors who are being kicked out the door because of non-payment of rent?
Oh, I forgot. We need 138 school districts across Nassau and Suffolk County and all the very highly paid administrators that result because we have to be "for the children". We need all these overlapping police and other jurisdictions so that we can have retiring police administrators who receive 6 figure retirements and, in some cases,$500,000 payouts. Something has to change or the flight from Long Island will only accelerate. All that will be left will be the highly paid school administrators, superintendents, police and other government retires who must use public "taxes" to feather the "lifestyles they are accustomed to." But no children will be left to attend the schools and no young families can afford to live here.
When will Long Islanders stand up to this insanity?
