Same issue: TV freezes upon Netflix launch, error on TV about Netflix. Nothing but unplugging the power cord helped the situation.
Model: vizio e601i-a3
Solution:
I tried everything: custom DNS, deleting and creating profile, deactivating Netflix and finally the only thing that actually work was resetting the TV to factory defaults. Then I had to go through the regular set up, WiFi setup and Netflix now no longer freezes.
I recommend for everyone having this issue to start by resetting the TV to factory defaults. Be careful, there are two options on the Help menu.
1. Reset TV settings (this only changes the image settings I believe)
2. Clear memory (Factory Default). this is what you want. TV will ask for a PIN number. I used 0000 as I never set one before.
That fixed it for me.

Better solution that doesn't require resetting entire TV. Follow first instruction set here at this Vizio support link.. You can just do a reset on the apps and avoid blowing away all your tv settings.

Two issues - Netflix (resolved) and OTA audio drop outs:

Netflix has been working for me after the upgrade. But recently I was having netflix lock up on me when I went to 'start' netflix. It would show their 'popular' videos, but I couldn't get past that, it would freeze, and completely lock up the TV. I couldn't even shut it off, I'd have to pull the plug.

Well, I tried the 'pull plug, hold power button for 30 seconds, release, and plug in and turn on' routine, and it came back and has been working OK. No other setting need to be changed/re-entered with this. Just sharing this if it helps anyone else.

#2 - It seems since the upgrade, I'll get little drop outs of sound - just a short loss, a fraction of a second, but maybe every 10-15 minutes sometimes? I watch with Over-The-Air (antenna), no cable. Our other Vizio doesn't do this, and I don't recall it prior to the FW upgrade.

Maybe related, but we also now get a loud 'pop' in the speakers (connected to the TV through a receiver using the TV headphone jack) a few minutes after the TV is turned off. I also don't recall this before the upgrade.

Anyone else experiencing these audio problems?

I bought a Vizio the other day 4/21/13. Like so many here Netflix did not work. I, too, tried all the tweaks nothing worked. I exchanged for a Samsung. Everything worked out of the box. My thoughts if you, the user, have to do all of this hoop jumping to get this ( or any other technology) to work out of the box, what is going to happen over the life of the product? Do you think Steve Jobs would let a product like this be sold under his watch? I don't think so. If it does not work from get go, go get something that does.

actually Steve Jobs would. Under his watch apple sold a lot of defective products and would not acknowledge them until sued. One of the last lawsuits before his death was about the iphone4. Some users are currently getting 15 dollar checks from apple after a class action lawsuit for defective antennas. He tried to tell everyone they were holding the phones wrong.

Thanks for all the issues with vizio tv.I am having same issues and they want to connect ethernet cable for one day, even though I did all that a person can do. My next is to return it for another one. I love this tv. I only had it for a little over a month. This is ridiculous. None of the apps work, nor will it connect to internet anymore. It keeps saying download not available.

How do you change the DNS so the Vizio remote will work with Netflix. I have a new Vizio 32" TV and it worked fine for the first month. Now it is locking the TV and I have to unplug the power. This is crazy for a new TV. Help!

It might not be the DNS (but it could be). Mine was locking up when I selected Netflix, but doing the reset by unplugging and holding the power button in (check other posts for the exact procedure, I don't have time to look it up now myself)'cured' it for me.

Good Luck!

On advice from gleaned from this post, I plugged the network cable from the VISIO directly into the hub being fed from the router and the issue was solved. It appears that Visio's Netflix widget doesn't work well with daisy-chained network hubs.

Vizio "Undable to download". I fixed the problem for sure. I was getting three out of 5 bars for wifi signal but still could not connect to wifi. Moved the tv to the same room with my wifi router and all problems disappeared. Back to my bedroom and three signal bars, and it doesn't work. Back to room with wifi router - and it works fine. Ignore the three bars and move your set closer to your wifi to test my results.
