Labor costs have gone up in China to cause the high price.

Of course people in the US could have made a 300 dollar shoe. Shoe payment or car note.

It is all about corporate greed and outsourcing.

Yeah but kanye is selling sneakers for 1000.00 bucks. Their all greedy but it's not their fault it's the idiots that buy them. I myself have bought sneaker over 130 dollars when I was young but I live in the suburbs so I don't have to worry about anyone shooting me for my shoes. It's said that people who can't afford to spend this much money on a pair of shoes will do anything for a status symbol such as a expensive pair of shoe or a car they can't afford. Here's the twist part about it if those shoes were like 50 bucks know one would want them. That's how materialistic we are as a society.
I buy name brand sneakers when they have been out for a while and the price has been reduced. I am just not one for standing in line, and spending megabucks on something because it is the next best thing.

You're right though. The ones that can least afford it will be standing in line for these.

yes, these silly shoes will cause another outbreak of riots and killings. Those who can "buy" them will have to do some extra muggings and hold-ups. THEN when the silly fools have got them, they waddle about with no laces and 2 sizes too big, like clockwork chickens .

Like for instance why does anybody need a MacBook pro that costs 2500.00 when you can get a pc for a 1000.00 perishes bucks less that does the same thing.
The Mac v PC issue, the Mac doesn't get inundated with viruses the way PCs do. That does set them apart a bit. I used to have a PC and had to keep updating the virus software.

The more I think about it, people regularly pay $1k for a purse or for shoes that are made by Louis Vuitton or Jimmy Choo.

We live in a culture where people declare a last will and testament to leave all their earthly possessions to their pet cat. Extreme yes, but not unheard of.
