Student Social Media Speech Cases Rejected by U.S. High Court

This is interesting in a number of ways.
First, I'm amazed that this ridiculous kind of stuff went all the way to the Supreme Court, wasting taxpayer dollars on cases that should have and could have been resolved years ago.
Where were the parents of these obnoxious and nasty little brats posting obscenities and bullying others online? Oh, let me guess. They were right behind their little darlings backing their rights to be an asshole all the way to the top court of the land.
There are slander laws in place for victims who feel their reputation has been damaged by false public statements. In all of these cases I would think the perpetrator would be liable to the victim.
What lesson does it teach a kid when (obviously encouraged by the idiocy of his parents) he will go to great lengths to get away with wrong-doing rather than being responsible for his actions, apologizing and learning not to do harm others?
It is any wonder these kids are bullies and disrespectful brats?
