WVU Wrong to Award Bresch Degree
West Virginia University administrators showed "seriously flawed" judgment in awarding the governor's daughter a master's degree she didn't earn.

Governor Manchin says there were mistakes made in awarding his daughter a masters degree from WVU. Yeah, I agree with him. The mistakes were made when he used his position of power to influence those in positions of power at WVU to give his daughter the degree. He knows exactly what strings he pulled to get her a degree that she hasn't made the least bit of effort to earn or deserve it.
This is nothing more than a gross abuse of the power vested in him as governor and he should be investigated for his role and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Just a reminder, his uncle, A. James Manchin, was Secretary of State from 1976-1984, and later, as Treasury Secretary, he was forced to resign when $230 million came up missing. Now, it appears the nephew, Joe, is following in his footsteps. When he does leave office, wonder how much money will come up missing? |

Do you actually think he had anything to do with it?

IMO, he knew all about it. Those high-powered executives at WVU would not have just singled Joe Manchin's daughter out to award her a master's degree. There were strings pulled and I believe ole Joe did the pulling. And, I hope the long arm of the law soon reaches out and gloms onto him. |

No I just wondered if, knowing who she was, they pulled their own strings...

That's possible, but, I can't help but believe that Joe played his part. What caring and concerned father would not be aware of his daughter's needs regarding her education? The fact that he came out and said mistakes were made leads me to believe that he had first-hand knowledge of those mistakes, i.e., criminal acts. |

Not since the days of Jay Rockefeller has WV seemed to be able to elect a governor that could keep his nose clean and his name out of the "tabloids". It's really sad. Gaston Caperton, legally, was on the up and up most of the time but even his love life got him into trouble.

how so? I dont recall Caperton having any affairs or scandals... |

I don't remember the details, it's been a while but he was either married to and cheated on, or was married and cheated with the lady that was the head of the WV orchestra in Charleston. Like I said, minor stuff but enough to get into the gossip sections of the paper.

IMO, his fingerprints are on every false document signed by Garrison. And, I hope the investigators follow the trail of evidence right to his front door. |
