I saw this piece on ABC news about tire expiration dates.According to this piece on ABC news, the rubber compound in tires dries out over time and becomes brittle after 6 years or so. This can lead to blowouts, nasty rollovers and to the premature pushing up of the the old daisies! The scary thing is that potentially dangerous tires are sold as new at major auto outlets like Sears. Legally they are new, having never been used and having no tread wear at all.
I am not saying Mr. Tire is doing this I am just bringing this to your attention.

I think this end of town has a lot of potential, and so far it has a nice blend of shops.

How can they charge enough for tires and oil changes to pay this overhead? Won't see me there, I always got great service and pricing at Scott's Tires.

More competition for all of us - Good!
Now, let's see the old Circuit City building put to use before building any more commercial structures in the area.

Yeah, maybe Lowe's can go in there and leave 2 empty buildings. That was pure sarcasm for those of you who didn't recognize it.

Fyi, Lowe's has already left 2 empty buildings. The "Photo This" bldg on LWE and the shopping center where Ollie's (not the Ollie's bldg though) is now also along LWE. However not many business are in the Ollie's shopping center.

The guy that managed Monro on Wayne ave,(Matt Wegar) was shady, he didnt know how to talk to customers, Jeremy, that was a tech there doesnt know his @!$ from a hole in the ground, there was a young boy there also and he looked to be right outta school, what knowledge could he possible have???

I was there getting an oil change and they tried telling me that i needed brakes and rotors...wht? all i wanted was an oil change, why take my tires off??? They try to rip ppl off and you will not see my car parked there...EVER!!

HMMMM. I knew about the building in the Ollie's shopping center, but not the other one. I can't imagine why a business would want to build a brand new building when they could probably renovate an existing one to fit their needs cheaper...

Anyone looking for an upstanding garage with quality service and reasonable prices try Martin's garage in Pinola. It took me a long time to find a reputable garage that is honest and won't rip you off... so i just thought I would pass the word!

Cant say that you will see me there either but really judging a tech by his age is the worst thing to do, many of the younger guys have more training and knowledge of the cars we are driving today not saying that the good 'ol boy are bad but I'd be careful saing a young guy doesnt know his stuff. maybe in the case at the monroe your right, besides the hours these store are open draws guys that maybe cant get a position at a more reputable shop.

I agree with not4mytruck, has nothing to do with location at the "older" part of town.(only 3 miles away, chambersburg isnt that big) It was the people that worked at monroe that caused it to close.
As far as employing 8 people, all those came from other stores, so the other stores get the "new" jobs.

I took my windstar to Mr. Tire because it failed state inspection at Jiffy Lube. It failed for the rear brakes and the front tires. Well they called me to say the rear brakes were fine it was the rear brakes that needed work. Well what was I to say, they were wrong..... These are supposedly honest and ethical people. So I said work on the front brakes after all they're the professionals. Maybe there was some sort of misunderstanding about which brakes needed work. They worked on the front brakes, changed the rotors too. The work needed done or the vehicle wouldn't pass inspection. After Mr. Tire had finished the work I took it to Jiffy Lube for final inspection. Guess What? The rear brakes failed?!!! They even called me in to look at the brake shoes. The asbestos lining was nearly worn down to the rivets. But Mr. Tire told me the rear brakes were fine the front brakes needed work, 366.00 dollars worth. Remember this car's front brakes had passed inspection and Mr Tire had done 366.00 on the brakes that had passed inspection. The rear brakes that were actually so bad that it was a danger to drive it they said they were ok.
