What a dilemma...if you take Plavix, you run the risk of a gastric bleed; if you add Nexium or any other proton pump inhibitors, you render the Plavix less effective. What are we to do? Your specialist can advise another medicin for the stomach problems. Do take the Plavix when your doctor advice it.

Sorry for the delay in my reaction. Most problems with this combinations start quite early, in just some months after the use. So people who have done it good for a longer periode donīt have to worry. There are also other kind of medication for stomac problems. Ask your doctor. Best regards, Suzan

Rusty wrote: The more I research this, the more confused I get. Has anyone come up with an viable alternative? I need the Plavix, and I have acid reflux. Dexilant is well suited for Plavix. Pantoprazole is also good. It has some effects in 80mg dosage but none in 40mg

Ask for Ranitidine or something else. There are so many different kind of medication for stomac problems. It is impossible, for me (alone??), to live without medication for my stomac. Mostly you don't need Plavix for longer than a year. Best regards, Suzan
