Reality is Medco is trying to get the employees to pay a little of the cost of health care (i.e. see what is happening with GM). Employees cannot expect cradle to grave health care from employers for nothing. The health care provided by Medco is good and better than most companies. Most employees with an option for health care between Medco and a spouses utilize Medco.

As far as Nevada goes, this facility was ready to be closed by Medco a couple of years ago. A last minute effort by union/local community kept part of the facility open but reality is Medco can operate with a scaled down Vegas facility.

Finally, the USW were recently kicked out of another Medco facility. This facility decided to be union free after deciding the USW did not live up to its promises.

Reality is...don't fret this investors. Medco is not suffering and neither are the patients

No, there is a Medco facility not represented by any union or guild. Both support and pharmacist voted to not be represented by anyone.

You are right Medco isn't suffering, they are making millions off of us, the employees. If the insurance they are offering us is so wonderful, why don't they have it? Administration has different plans at different prices for their families. We don't mind paying premiums, but we don't want to pay high premiums and incredibly high copays too, like $500 for a CT scan, get real, who can afford that? A Locked Out Las Vegas Employee

Medco claims that they are increasing the patient's share of healthcare to bring them in line with the 20% cost share that ALL other Medco employees are already paying.
Apparently this is not true, as the Tampa Call Center employees are still paying ZERO percent.

Due to contracts I'm sure that is true but when they are up 20% is what all employees are going to pay union or non-union which brings up the point why a union?

That is a very good point, there would not be a lockout right now if the there was no union. There are some out there just want to work and have a weekly paycheck to have a normal life. They can not because of the union.

I am a locked out employee that just wants to be able to make ends meet and get back to work. Not everyone can continue with the way the union is going. It would be a lot better if they would go to the table on a daily basis.

Check out unionfacts.com . Good information source for how the "union" spends your money. Medco exects also getting more than their fair share on bonuses, stock options etc. Who suffers?...the average worker. Advice?......decertify the union, go to work, but you don't owe Medco any loyalty. If Medco's pay/benefits are not up to snuff....find somewhere else that is better and go work there.

I found out today that the board of pharmacy has said it is alright for people without licenses to be touching and preparing the drug to be put into the machines. This is an outrage to all of the technicians of the plant. The board has always said the technicians have to have a license to handle the drug, now they are saying it is ok. Did Medco tell them it correctly or did Medco say it weird so the board changed its mind?

At 255 Philipi Rd in Columbus, Ohio many employees are begging their union for help. Over a year ago the employees were told the company was creating a new project called ALPHA which allows the pharmacist to see a projection of all prescriptions on the computer no matter where the actual prescription is located. As a result of this new project many employees in the calling functions are no longer needed so the Medco Health Solutions Pharmacy is now finding all sorts of ways to terminate their employees who have been with the company for more than 5 years with the help of the USW. At the end of 2006 the President (Cathy and Randy Mullins) of the union (USW) stated they didn't have enough money to supply the unionized employees Christmas Gift Cards; so they gave a Christmas Party instead. This party consisted of cookies and juice only. In one week 11 employees were all terminated for different reasons and 8 were terminated prior to the last week in December. One of the Union Stewarts who actually fought for the employees was terminated in the month of May 2007. The company has fired over a hundred employees for different reasons and the number keeps increasing. The union is denying grievances for the terminated employees. The company continues to hire new employees starting them off with a pay of $9.10 an hour, depending on the shift, while they also continue to make-up reasons to get rid of people who have worked with the company for 5years or more. So I ask what good is the union. Please explain to the victims what USW really does for them other than take their money.

Both the support and pharmacist were very smart not have a union. The company does what it wants when it wants and the union sits back peacefully while the compnay does it. If anyone took the time to investigate USW you may find out information about the accomplishments and the down falls of the union and how it has represented other employees in other companies in the past.

I work at a Tampa facility for Medco. If anyone at one of these other facilities is interested in decertifying their union, and think there is enough consensus, I can help organize a decertification campaign for you. To take a decertification vote you need 30% of the represented employees to sign a petition, and this petition has to be submitted to www.nlrb.gov 60 to 90 days before the contract expires. Or, if 50% signatures are collected at anytime, then the company can withdraw recognition of the union without a vote.
Either way, if you need help, please e-mail unionfreemedco@tampabay.rr.com I can also set up the website we used in Tampa, www.unionfreemedco.com
It is unfair for people who do not approve of unions or what they do, to be subjected to what the union agrees to. Let each employee and their own work represent themselves.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aquarius

Someone is being bombastic and overbearing, and you don't like it. You aren't prepared to take their behavior lying down, but standing up to them is likely to result in a rip-roaring row. Well, it seems that the row is almost inevitable, and perhaps that's just as well because it won't do you any good to swallow your anger or tolerate this person's boorishness for much longer.
