Would legal American students also be privy to "special tuition rates"? Why does this school feel it should be "Latino friendly", it would better serve all students if it were all-inclusive American student friendly. There is no equity in giving illegal students special dispensations.

It's well past time for American students to bring class action law suits against institutions of higher learning when they give out special rates to non-citizens when they don't offer the same to them.

Why is there a "Special rate" ? Not enough students enrolling in latino studies?

Just give em free tuition, hell just giv em the degree and a bounus check for accepting it.

What about that word "equality" that these libs preach like a wedding vow.....
I guess "special privileges" now trump equality....
Not to mention blatantly aiding and abetting the illegal.....

That 25% would not count, illegal aliens are not entitled to federal benefits, they are lying.

"About 18 percent of Metro State students are Latino, up from 13 percent in 2007. If the school reaches the 25 percent mark, it would be eligible for HSI designation, which would give Metro State access to a large pool of federal funding.

Jordan estimated that the designation would allow Metro State to more than double the funding it receives through federal grants to as much as $35 million."

There you have it...another ploy to get more taxpayer money flowing into this school. Exactly how would this additional funding be used? Who would it really benefit???

So the school district is like a prostitute when it comes to "federal money"?

The fed gov facilitates the pandering to non citizens.

The citizen gets the shaft and the "undocumented" get more free stuff.

My God, what are we coming to? Why aren't we figuring out how to educate more Americans? The level of education is lowering daily due to all the illegal immigrants we're having to educate, but first they have to learn to speak our language - which their parents don't want to do. We've lost it - what ever happened to upholding the law. This feels hopeless anymore.
They can get a tax id # which most confuse for social security numbers - to say they can't work here legally is bunk. The government wants to provide them numbers so they can file tax returns - and get tax credits and even more money they didn't earn!
There so many foreigners coming in that want to keep their culture, and just take advantage of the American systems which allow them free everything. It's so depressing!

It seems one is better off as a non-citizen.
