I think one very important factor has been missed from the current analyses, the emergence of a new and potentially deadly strain of wheat stem rust that is about to hit the major wheat growing areas of Pakistan and India. When this happens wheat production will likely be halved. Unfortunately the critical lack of investment in agricultural research has left the world with no immediate answer to this potentially devasting situation.
The world depends on just four crops for its food supply. A substantial loss in production of one of these, wheat, will rapidly plunge many parts of the world into unbelievable chaos.
