Hi, I've been working at MD's for the past month and a half. I know all of the grill area and some breakfast. I know front counter and some back drive (self taught). I've worked at several local restaurants five to be exact. They would ask me to go and help and I would comply. I'm wondering if I have what it takes to become a crew trainer? Ill be calling my General Manager tomorrow after school to ask. I usually work 24 hours a week I'm available all the time, well i have Highschool that is and im 18.

You might need some official training (not self-taught), but other than that you're sounding like a good employee. Obviously, I can't fully evaluate you as a potential Crew Trainer as I haven't worked with you.

There should be a leaflet available to you for crew trainer, ask any manager for one, they'll more than likely know where to get you one from. There is a few key points you need to be a staff trainer:
all 4 stars (quality, service, cleanliness, excellence). At least a 4 on your last PR, pass an interview with your store's manager and a pass on the staff trainer exam.

So your next step would be to get many SOC's done and your training classes sorted.

Wow... that's a lot :p All we have to do is fill out a booklet that goes over how to train someone, then be certified in training.

I've been with McDonald's almost four years, and recently, this month, they told me they wanted me to be a crew trainer, I'm not one yet. I'm not too social a person, but it seems like it's going to be fun, but yeah, basically everything Goku213 stated.

If you want the position badly, I hope you get it. Good luck.

Well I actually work as a Crew Trainer myself. took me about two years, I'm 16. To be one you need one year experience at McDonald's, and you need to know just about everything there. Other than that you're fine.

Just get as many S.O.C.s done as you can/neccessary. Notify the Gm of there completion, and ask for the crew trainer book.

Ahaha! You can't apply to be a Crew Trainer; you need to be asked by a Manager.

There is no set standard to become a Crew Trainer. It's possible to have someone hired from the streets as a Crew Trainer.

The store i work at, the managers say you can be put forward to be a staff trainer after being there 6 months & as long as you have all 4 stars on your name badge. you are also required to have all soc's completed and the cdp books need to be completed.
good news is i have passed all this and my name has been put forward
the bad news is that im leaving the company and so is half the workforce and the general manager has no idea its all her falut)

I've been at McD for a year, but I've been dating a manager (the one in charge of crew trainers) so it's been harder to get the position. I've gone over his head to our Store Manager, and her and I have decided I need to work with her and not him, and I've entered my 90 day probationary period as a crew trainer. Someone mentioned you can't ask, you need to be asked, which is not true. Maybe for their store, but if you ask your store manager or manager in charge of crew trainers. If they don't want you to be one, ask them why, improve on that area, and that's really all you can do. I've had one SOC done on me in the past year. Then again my store is in dier need of people. We have 30 crew, 3 of them crew trainers, no crew chiefs, 2 assistant managers, a first assistant, a second assistant, and a store manager. Come work for us =]

Great job. PM is a fun thing to be in charge of, and you can usually get it done very well when it's spaced out throughout the month.

I just started working at McDonalds last May and had only been working weekends. Some of my co-employees think I'm a fast learner. Would it be possible for me to be able to be a crew trainer in the future even if my days in a week are limited?

It's possible, but you're needed to train people for all shifts. If you can only do weekends, they'd be more likely to go with someone who is able to train people at any time.

No problem :) Of course you can still speak to the Store Manager to see if you'd be a possibility for the position - never hurts to ask :)
