You all have no lives and you're all losers (especially unknown27). This is the only posting I am doing ever.

Obviously you're not good enough for the McDonald's employment opportunitities. Please quit immediately.

McDonald's isn't bad at all. Quite honestly I think it's great. I've made new friends, both crew and customer, I was recently promoted to Staff Supervisor, I'm getting a good paycheck. I can't see why people hate it so much, there's not a complaint I can think of.

I work there part time. And can't stand it. They had been told that my availability was only one shift a week. And guess what they do. They schedule for two shifts, one shift last night and today I'm supposed to work 2-10. But I'm not going. I told the manager last night that I coudn't work the next day. Whether he actually ever got it through his head that I WASN'T going to be there, I don't know. But I am not going to work today. If they're short, its not my problem. |

That attitude isn't the best for the store, but you're right. If your availability is one shift a week, then they should only be scheduling you one shift a week. Just like if you are only able to work on Mondays, and they schedule you on Thursdays. Mistakes like that are the manager's problems to fix, not your own. If you're written up for it, fight it. |

Well Unknown27 you are taking quite a beating for Mcds...I have to agree with you on some points their training is very good if done properly and not copied from one book to another...It all truly depends on the person and also on the RM's ability to coach that person and motivate and work for changes..The Restaurant Manager sets the tone for the entire store..Sometimes that is where a problem can originate from..I personally just completed my book program and was scheduled for class but have some personal difficulties with applying what was taught in class and the way my own store is run..Saying talk to the owner/operator sounds easy but is proving difficult for me..Surely they can see the problem..food cost issues not being addressed..improper ordering(shortage of product),13 managers only three(including 1st asst) are shift certified and only three of them will work past 6pm,the RM's daughter is a manager reporting directly to her of which they are aware..Does not absolutely does not train her managers to work areas so basically on a shift you have 5 managers that want to run shift until they realize that in our store you do not get to stand in the observation post in fact you may be the break person occasionaly,I could literally go on and on.....So Mcds not so bad but not so great..

Well, after working there all I have to show for it is an extreme tolerance to dealing with people, who I've deduced are generally unheeding in, well, general, hence why I keep my sanity as a Walgreens employee. Come now, you can't honestly tell me that anyone above anyone in that field cares what happens to anyone below, not unless it somehow benefits themselves. I know you didn't say this, ut this is only a bridge to a point which I hope you can find hidden. I could somewhat see how it has 'good opportunities', but truth be told it's much easier and quicker to just find a better paying job than be stuck in a spiral of false hope, getting pepper-sprayed in the eyes by rowdy customers. Also, yes, it is someone's choice to work there, but let's put this into perspective. They can either work there or simply leave their children to fend for themselves while they themselves live an easier life. Or better yet, they can either work there or they can starve. Or they can work there and pay for tuition, or just not go to school at all. People are usually desperate when they go to McDonald's for a job, as was I, so what's the point in making their lives any harder than they already are? The man who takes your orders is sacrificing his pride so he can get what he thinks is worth more than what he has, and pride is the hardest bone to break. |

Do forgive my rush and errors, it's late.
Hah, and I'd like to add one more thing. The quality of the training was as just the goal of Skinner. |

Oh, darn, I forgot to mention that even the management (including scheduling times) has been terrible at every store I've been to. The day I quit was when I realized they scheduled me on a day I reminded them, time and time again, not to schedule me on.
What was this day? My brother's wedding none other. The best part about it is that two days later I got a call from them asking where I was. ---------- There's a hole in the world like a great, black pit where the clients are the very worst part of it and their manners aren't worth but what a pig could spit and it goes by the name of McDonald's... At the top of the hole sit a priveledged few making mockery of the vermin in the lower zoo, turning beauty into filth and greed... I, too, have seen the world of Fast Food's wonders, for the clients who come in are as wondrous as my shoe, but there's no place like McDonald's... |
