Old hard drives have super-strong rare-earth (Neodymium, not really "rare" just a name) magnets inside. Even a laptop drive contains a surprisingly-strong magnet or two. Take one apart and have fun but watch out - I've gotten bloody fingers from having a couple of those suckers snap together when handling 'em!
