My name is Ericka McClung,I am a working mother and trying to go to school I have a disabled husband and my family and I reside in WV. This month and the month before we have had less food and I could not pay all our utilities in order to have gas to get to work,my school, the store and our medical trips we no longer drive anywhere for recreational purposes and all trips are planned so we can do several things at once.
I feel abandoned by my country I feel that you don't really care about the millions struggling with me to provide the barest of necessities beyond what is considered polite .I know there are lots of things going on in the world that grab your attention but please help us . I am afraid we could be looking at me quitting work and living off food stamps and my husbands social security because we would be no worse off then we are looking at right now as about 2/3 of my paycheck goes to gasoline. I feel this is a bad state of affairs in this country when all these hard working folk can't provide necessities for their family because transportation has shot thru the roof. I certainly can't afford a new hybrid car or even any other car for that matter. I heard that the spike was because oil refineries are going down a few at a time so that they can prepare to make fuel for the summer ,well I have never ever seen prices jump like this because of a change in seasons. Oil companies are making record profits and no one but us working class seem to want to stop it ,why?
i hear a lot of talk but that's all, again i ask why? Do you not understand if us little insignificant people quite working there will be no money for Iraq or the defense budget. I feel it's nice that the government felt the urge to help and protect the Iraqis but who is here for me?
