Now wait a minute. How much did the state spend in 2001 when they completely rebuilt this bridge? Why on earth are we going to redo bridge work done only eight years ago. Surely this isn't the only place a "business park" can be constructed. This is government at it's inefficent worst and it's what we should all be trying to stop.

It may not be the only place for a business park but the right people must have bought land in and around this area, making it the right place for a business park.

Isn't that nice?

We local residents, the taxpayers, wait for 20 years for this bridge to be widened to handle increased car traffic - and once the project begins we find out the purpose all along was probably better access for more d*mn trucks to and from another d*mn business park.(That's a nicer word for the term "more warehouses").

Great, thanks a lot Billy Boy AND our other elected officials.

Nothing like having the interest of the local taxpayer/property owners at heart over the big warehouse business interests.

tell ya what: I this is what's ahead for this exit and bridge area, then I am DONE shopping at the Chambersburg Mall. I just won't fit truck traffic there. Anyone care to join me???

Psst PB, drop the drink, this article talks of exit 24, not 20. C-Burg Mall is at Exit 20.

Well if you think this is bad wait another 5 to 7 years and they will have to come back and fix the bridges in order to make I-81 6 lanes(3 each way).
I bet they haven't even thought about that when increasing the bridges to 3 lanes. It is called liberal spending at it's best. More jobs you know.

What about the bridge at the other Shippensburg exit; at the Walnut Bottom Road which is currently being widened to three lanes? Oh, that's not in Representative Shuster's district!

JustWait, I agree with you about I-81. It should have been widened to 6-lane a long time ago. I made a trip north recently, and it seemed as if they were working on every bridge crossing over 81. I just hope they designed them all to accommodate the 6-lane highway.

Any warehouse, business park, bar, bank, or pizza joint provides jobs to the unemployed! Don't criticize!

Typical Franklin / Cumberland county mentality.

You want jobs, but you don't want development.

You want services, but you don't want taxes.

You all want to make $75k a year, but you don't value education.

No wonder this place is 40 years behind the rest of the country.

Nope don't live anywhere near there. Just think it's stupid to replace an eight year old bridge when there are lots of older bridges that really need rework.

We have Mr Sciamanna and Mr Ross to partially thank for this too. They have interests in the location. Good Job boys. That intersection is already so congested you can't operate normally at it. Keep bringing on the low end retail jobs.

What about the so called business park they built at Exit 29 several years ago? It is still empty.
