DM do have keys now they will soon do everything the ASM do, but the DM will not be salary but be held more responsible for their area.. The ASM will be more on the HR side of things

but if the company changes it.....

They gutted TL's and salary so you just delegate this to be more of a flat org. Very little on the top (sm and a few asm) then the dm's can have more power.

What specifically can asm do that a dm can't? I've seen dm's act as MOD and even that blue service manager thing....I know of dm's that had a key...heck I had a key for awhile...

Again I ask how pse/I positions were made salary. They don't meet the criteria either. Only certain states have laws against it. If it makes business sense too do it you bet they will in the states they can.

PSE/PSI positions are considered "Outside Sales" therefore they can be classified as a Salaried Exempt employees. Look up FSLA

This forum has been the talk of my store today. I have read through ALL of the comments on this and other forums. Who are all of ya'll? Just a bunch of theorists I believe. What's your position? I've known about alot of things that are posted here; just by visiting Connections. Yeah-changes are coming. Yeah stores have tested overnights..(That info was available before Christmas.)This site has ALOT of people stressed out. AND IT'S ALWAYS the same people commenting. Anyone with common sense knows changes are coming. And it's not like a big surprise. Example: Spiffs. I was told it was predicted "here" spiffs would go away; so it must be true. Common sense tells me when the amount of a spiff and the time you are allocated a spiff started last year; it's going to go away. Common sense tells me when PSE was created it will do away with positions. Common sense tells me; can't task during mandatory "impact hours" means non selling positions will have to change. Common sense tells me when DM are given the same keys and tasks as ASM; something will happen. Common sense tells me ALOT..not this site. All THIS is doing is stressing people out.

What we'd all like to hear is someone who ACTUALLY knows something. I highly doubt someone in "that position" would just poorly post here in such an inappropriate way. ONE thing I DO KNOW; No one knows more than anyone else. We are all a salesman#. Why would this HUGE corporation choose to disclose this very sensitive news and hold back? Or perhaps only tell certain people for that matter? GET REAL. The only certain is uncertainty.

Why don't you be the first one to put your store number and salesmen number so we know who you are?

The interesting thing is if this was still at the height of the bubble we might have seen hd try to court specialists by offering commissions. They could but they won't. Besides there are plenty of smaller independent shops that would love to have the specialists of lowes. If the argument is service well that's what smaller places do provide.

And based on history and past events, do you believe what corporate says? Just two months ago, they were saying spiffs and commissions were NOT going away.

Corporate lie? Nahh

Just like when Nilblock said sales would increase from the rebound in housing...back in'07,'08,'09,10 etc

Just like when the variable overtime ended and the sm's were told the reason was "So employees can spend more time with their families"

I have heard many things over the last few days on what will happen. Most of us in senior management believe at some point there will be cuts. I heard that stores of more than 25 million dollars will lose an ASM. That there will be a co-manager, ops manager and one other senior management position.I believe that before they allow DM's to have the responsibility it takes they will need to be more properly trained. Most of us got into a senior management position because we love Lowes and have the passion for helping customers and driving sales, I just don't see that in many DM's.
