I had my LEF meeting today...gotta say they told us a whole lot of nothing. and by that i mean literally...there were several questions asked and the answer was simply "well we just dont know" Lowes you should have been keeping up to date for the last 15 years, not trying to play catch up in 2012. I mean really how old is the genesis program? Lowes Experience of the Future...please... maybe Lowes Ends Facedown

Our DM gave us a photo copy of the LEF and it really did not make a lot of sense. And then he said he had to have a meeting with us to explain it. Explain what? He probably got the same copy via an email from the ASM with no explanation. I agree-they roll it out and we don't have an idea how it will work, will we have a system to allow it to work-then they threaten us that if we don't support LEF they will weed us out of their garden. Typical Lowes, cart before the horse. Introduce something that is not supported by Genesis and tell us to sell MyLowes or threaten us. Don't roll it out until you have it complete. By the time it is ready to work (if ever) MyLowes will be just another marketing term with no real bazazz-no excitement for the employees or customers.

Big 6 Initiatives -#5 "(TEC) overarches these four initiatives, which seek to inspire customers through new store prototypes, project displays, vignettes & multichannel content" really? this is what thier going with so we're suppose to build an arbor and cover it with vines, really? Great Plan

I am all for change. Corporate needs some serious couch time and meds.
What is with the multi-toilet display at the front door. Nothing like going into spring with a new piece of porcelain hugging your cheeks. Customer reaction has not been positive. Why is this the first thing I see when I come into this store when it should be the last. Put up curtains and hide it!
Lowe's loves plain old vanilla. This is cutting edge?

If you look at sales data, you'd see that February is the best selling month for toilets and bath accessories.

That might be true but that's no reason to stage them near the front of the store.

There's a sales by assortment report that will show forcasts going forward. Corporate might not be that bright but they usually anticipate product for the season. Right now if anyone wants snowblowers by all means call stores in the northeast.

Lowes could make a killing selling some of these extras to Europe.

When Katrina hit nearly all the wood pellets shipped to down south. Lowes might not operate in Europe but there are some retailers there it could sell this to as middlemen.Could be some great PR just waiting to happen....

Likewise, sales data would show that toilet plunger sales peak during the Thanksgiving holidays when guests visit. So why doesn't Lowes stack out turkey fryers and toilet plungers cross merchandised by the front door? With a new board member from Dollar General, perhaps Lowes will...

Anyone with business training knows that toilets are not "impulse purchases". Having flowers suitable for Valentine giving by the front door would make sense.

Take what? Valentines Days flowers aren't a bad idea, we had them down aisle 1 in our stores.

The only thing I can think of is that toilets in my state aren't allowed to be returned. Once installed that's it...can't resell a used toilet it's the law

Now there's a well thought out idea - toilets and flowers cross merchandised in February in the cart start area. Put the flowers in the toilets and customer can use them in the front yard as planters. "Call Starkist!"

Do you know what the average margin in the plumbing department is? It's tax return time customers are going for bigger projects.
