What we all i think we need to realize is that lowes is not our momma and doesnt owe us anything. Ive been here 11years and as much as I want to not believe it lowes doesnt care. Its a business, not a family. So when something better comes along take it. Until then make as much money as you can.

This is YOUR company and they are doing the best they can with the situation they are in.
Monday morning quarterbacking is always easier. Give it a rest,do the job we are paid to do and let things settle down. And for heavens sake quit the conspiracy reteric about everyone losing their job. We'll know when we know.
So true. And things will settle down and even get better as soon as the economy turns a little more. So many of these comments are just whipping everyone into a frenzy and creating morale issues where there aren't any. Some of the theories here aren't based on fact and others are things that happened in a limited number of stores and they are being percieved as the way things are going all over the company. Which isn't the case...many stores are barely being affected by this, so much of it depends on what tier you were staffed at versus what tier you really are. I personally think this will all settle out in a week or so and ultimately the company will be stronger for it.

I somehow don't think you would be as flippant if you were the one out of a job. They may have done what they did. But still think it could have been handled differently,(ie) upper management giving up their bonunes and maybe taking a pay cut to see that very few, if any lost their jobs. Thats where the not caring part comes into.
cause they dont give a shit who lost their jobs , just so long as it wasnt store mgrs and above and that THEY DIDNT LOOSE ANYTHING.
Lowes lies and they will keep on lying.

Now ,that I agree with.
personally I'm tired of the stock price sitting down here and not moving anywhere for years.
Again, I'm sorry for those that lost their jobs
but I think this will make us a stronger and more resilient competitor and hopefully be reflected in our stock price soon !

And on a second thought, Why didn't management come to employees before the layoffs to let them know what was coming down the pike.
to a least give those effected a chance to do something about it. Instead they kept everyone in the dark. People ARE hurt because they DID CARE about the company, only to be thrown away like yesterdays garbage....think about that while you are being smug, Oh and by the way.....YOU'RE NEXT

Not being smug or flippant. Just realizing that we need to take care of ourselves and not count on lowes for anything. I wrote earlier that lowes should have handled this more proffesionaly, but I seen different people walked out like criminals throughout the years instead of discretely. Ive never worked for company that handled situations so badly. Now with your threat about me being next you sound like you have a lowes corp mentality.dont throw stones we are on the same side.

You are delusional - when you turn 50 - you need to look in the mirror and by the way my performance numbers were 98% total sales and 100% plus on the big three -my lawyer will be calling your company.

No, no threat , just wonder how you will feel when it happens to you...(I hope it doesn't)I think it sucks it happend to me, but I will have to deal with it....Also think it was kinda weird that they celebrated back about six or seven months ago, in the Lowdown about the older guy who retired with Lowes, he was in his 80s or 90s? And they made a big deal out of it...I guess they don't want that to happen anymore.

Yeah if you remember back our retirement used to be lowesretirerich.com , but then it became myloweslife.com . The best advantage for us is to start with a smaller company with growth potential, lowes has gotten too large. We used to read about associates that worked in recieving and retiring millionaires, but the bonuses, stock options, esop profit sharing money has been dwindled or erased for years.

Enough with the race card, please. I'm p'rican, was a Sales and now ASM. With 1700 lay offs I'm sure there are gonna be people of all ages and races and sexual preferences that were let go. The decision, which sucks, was a business decision. Whatever the criteria was I haven't got a clue but I highly doubt it was corporate collusion to weed out certain races.

I believe a couple of months ago... There was a survey everybody took about their immediate supervisor/ zone manager with a rating system by a THIRD PARTY. Maybe this was part of the decision process behind the lay offs. Maybe...think about it

First off, for all the ppl cryin about blood sweat and tears, I believe you received a paycheck in return for your sacrifices. Nobody was forced to work at Lowes, nor was anybody forced to stay. Second, for the ppl cryin the CEO's should have taken pay cuts, would you have taken a pay cut to save jobs? If you said yes you're lying. I wouldn't have. My family is way more important than someone elses family. Sorry. And no I'm not Corp. I'm a 6 yr Csa and specialist

And p.s. I don't think Lowes owes me anything for my "loyalty" other than my paycheck. Why do ppl feel they deserve more??
