I think this sucks. My husband was a zone 2 manager and they let him go. He was one of the loyalist employees there. Too bad he was treated this way now. Good luck to those left behind.

I work for the competition as a manager and my heart goes out to everyone on that list. I wouldn't wish that treatment on anyone especially since we all go through the same work weeks. Take care everyone who was effected.

They fired 2 zone managers in my store moved ops to lumber bm zine 3 to zone 2 sales mgr to zone 1 admin overnight Lp Hrm all stayed now called area managers from what i heard....

Well, you reap what you sow, let's hope the idiots who are swinging the axes get it in the end. You work your butt off for the promises they make and they throw you out with the empty boxes. Morale and productivity in our store has been rock bottom for at least a year and it just got lower if possible. When you look at who got cut and who stayed you really wonder if you are dreaming! SAD DAY !!!!

My Zone 1 manager got laid off today, he was the best manager in my store at the ASM level. He said he was told it was based on seniority... and one of the managers that remains hasn't been there as long as him. He was the only one in the store capable of training me for my department that I just got transferred into. Lowe's has essentially told me hey do you want to go sky diving with me, here's your parachute (just riddled with holes and rips). They should at least have the balls to call it a layoff, instead of being pussies and hiding behind it being a "restructure". I think I am going to be looking for another job at a company that gives a shit, this is ridiculous that a huge company like Lowes which is still making plenty of money decided they wanted to do this. Lowe's CEO's are a bunch of greedy cowards. Their severance package is a joke too, 6% of your yearly salary in a lump sum and no more benefits? Fuck you Robert Niblock.

Not sure about other areas, but in ours,,,all laid off were in their 40s, 50s and 60s...how cruel.

I know this because this information was released inside the severance package.

Doesn't matter if you are the best or the worst - all that matters is if you are PROTECTED as in "PERSONAL FRIEND" of the Store Manager. They DO NOT promote the most able, only the most connected. Time for Lowes associates to call in the Retail Clerk's Union for meetings!

The information about how people were laid off came from the letter enclosed in the packages from corporate.

it clearly states that SM, DM and AHR were involved in determining who was cut

This is all true.......... They released a zone in my store! The OPS down to ASM and Sales down to ASM and ADMIN down to ASM.

SM's definitely had a say in layoffs-severance for the laid off at my store was 7 weeks-pretty bad for two people who racked worked for the company over 10 yrs.

Lowes is changing organizational structure. No operations manager, no sales manager, no zone managers. They are going back to the Assistant Store Manager structure from y2k timeframe. Those people in Ops, Sales, and Zone positions now, will become the new Assistant Store Managers in four areas of the store. Who fills those jobs depends on how each manager was previously rated. Some will loss their jobs, others will shift postions.

The tree at the stores would now consist of SM then ASM's below-number if ASM's depend on store volume-some stores did not have any layoffs dye to being understaffed already

Ive been at lowes for 11 years and this is the begining of the end for lowes. Corporate greed is what lowes is and has become since niblock came in. Every company needs to work with profit and lowes always has, but niblock is about numbers and dollars in his pocket.zone didnt get paid what they should have anyway with the hours they put in. Lowes employee site slogan used to be lowesretire rich now its myloweslife. No money to be made anymore. Nobody in their right mind would come to lowes and be a zone manager with the hrs and low base pay and unattainable bonuses.

the two people at my store gone were the least tenured in their positions. Granted, they were good, but not as much time in as the ones that stayed. I think they shouldve worked them back into the store staff somehow.
