Nice timing lowes.... Massive layoff rolls out at the sametime the media is covered up with state of the union address talk.

The only regret I have about this restructing, is the ones that deserved to go still are with Lowes. One was an Adminstrative Manager that let his admin dept mgr. tell hin what to do. He got moved from Admin, manager to Zone 3 in this restructing. Because of these two people I was stepped down from my Admin. Dept. mgr. position for nothing except what these two made up and put on paper!!! Why was Admin. managers not given the option to step down to Admin. Dept. managers? And let the Ad. Min. Dept managers go. Am I bitter?? Just a little!!!! But alls well that ends well. As usual every ones days at Lowes is numbered and the Company can do without YOU!!! YOU ARE NOT IRIPLACEABLE!!! NO MATTER WHAT U THINK!!!

Lowes has lost my business. Home Depot will not be getting it either as I don't feel they treat their employees any better. I am going to start using the small home town stores in my area who hopefully treat their workers better. Lowes really messed up this time around as word of mouth is the best advertising a store has!

You are right about the media, makes you wonder why it is not all over the news! With the State of the Union in the news and the President talking about creating good paying jobs Lowes has a lot of Gall!

I was a senior manager for years with lowes, worked in many many stores... a close friend of mine works in the corporate office... they told me this was happening about 2 weeks ago, I asked my store manager and he said I was crazy... he called me at home a day later saying he mentioned the rumor to our DM and all he wanted to know what where it came from, of course I wouldnt tell him. I was brought into the office well before the big 1pm start and questioned to how I knew soo much and where it came from... I told them I already knew what was coming and to give me the folder... he was "required" to read verbatum a letter as I handed him my key and card... I grabbed the folder and left.

THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE RESTRUCTURING!!!!

I know you will all say I am full of it but if you still work for lowes look for yourself... log into the job posting system there are already positions in the NC market for consolidated installed sales offices... the PSE program was and continues to be a flop and will be consolidated, the new PSI will eliminate more positions as well. Dont let lowes fill you with bullshit saying that this is the result of slow economic times and that they are doing this for the customer... Last I heard they didnt cancel the big store manager gala in vegas... think about how much that costs... and how does that impact customers in the aisle and add value to the share holders?? How much value will a weekend only seasonal hire be able to give a customer?? I am sure all those LLC's will be enough to make him an expert...

Start doing your homework and find a good company that has real expansion plans and a solid history of not pulling stunts like this... get out before you are forced like many of us were... or find a union... There is nothing that scares lowes more... trust me!! the amount of labor relations training we had in the past 2 years far exceeded any training I had received in my many years of service (we even got fake union related calls to see if we knew how to handle it).

Department managers look out... and dont be suprised to see sales specialists take on a new identity... Think about all the extra money lowes could pay its DM's and above with the elimination of spiffs and comissions???

Now that the senior staff are effectively glorified department managers... Its just the Store manager and the appliance specialists that will be making 60k+ a year... think about who gets cut next....

Thet are not just laying people off , They are termimating them with bogus write ups, just so they can hire part timers. And it not just upper managment.They are getting ride of good long time employes.

You people still don't get it! Lowe's bottom line was greatly affected, stocks are moving up and the company is expanding. They just opened a store in my area. CUT the BiG spending, get rid of low producing positions and have employees pull their weight. More expansion to come.... STOP your whining! I have been with Lowes many years and this was handled very poorly. Some great individuals were shown the door and others took pay cuts. Lowes is now officially gone big time and no longer cares about it's associates. Dedication means nothing. I
hope Neblock is haunted by great associates that he hurt and not to mention their families.

My husband who has worked at lowes for 17 years knew all of the people who were let go in our local area and worked with each of them at some time. He is not a wife nor relative and he can verify they did their jobs well.

Sounds like you need to loose your job so you can stand in the shoes of the people who had a long career with lowes one day and were escorted out of the store like criminals the next!

Amen to that brother. I wish I knew who you were, cause I'm lowe down on the totem pole, but I mentioned this about a week ago and the facial reaction I got was A) priceless and B) undeniable that I hit the motherload.

Oh the wonderful All Sales Meeting in Vegas! I booked my vacation before the lay off. Guess i'll be running into a few of those eh-hems. Sorry to hear about your husband...The same happened to my husband. It is a very sad time right now...Having to explain to my children that Daddy doesn't have a job anymore. He worked for Lowes for 9 years and he worked his heart out to...He missed so much of our childrens things and was a great employee..So for those of you who think they were just weeding out the bad really have NO CLUE of what you are talking about..

I "was" a Z3 Mgr on the Gulf Coast. We came from a deficit of 26.8% during the oil spill and clawed our way back to an NBT of 103% and I still got cut after 4 years of total dedication. Don't give me that junk about poor performance. It's nothing but corporate greed. "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord." They will have to answer to Him! By the way, do you think that RN and his gang did away with some of their goodies to save some money? Something to think about.
