Those are just SSPT observations. Believe me, we know if you are using impact, driving MyLowes, and offering credit, but as usual HR is grasping at straws to stay relevant. Because all the real HR work is being done at the store level, that makes for a very boring area, region, and divisional HR job. They have lots of time to sit around and dream up ways to make the HRM sound valuable so real HR duties don't get offloaded onto them. One of those ways is by having them "follow up" on our SSPT observations. Now, what used to be a good tool now and then, has become a mandatory, once a week, waste of time, in which we have to include the HRM on at least two of the "coaching conversations."
It's just another example of HR overstepping their bounds and getting involved where they don't need to be in order to seem important.
That may be, but all this has just started at my store about 3-4 weeks ago. If it is as you say, and is just part of the SSPT evaluations, than management at my store has NOT been doing their jobs. I thought the SSPT evaluations were supposed to have started around the first of the 2012 year. I have also not seen our HR doing any observations. It is rare to see her on the floor at all.

hot off da press Home Depot is bringing commisions to their appliance departments.I think Lowes should proceed with caution on moves made regarding
appliance folks.

So , Journey What kind of proof do you have about Home Depot commisions coming in and where did you see the story. Home Depot gets the commisions and has never paid it to their employees, surely cannot see that it would change now unless they had a change of heart?

I wouldn't be worried about a spiff or reconstruction. I would worry about stores closing. This I heard from Area staff.

Why would hd add commissions and what specifically would pay for them? If hd paid out of pocket that means they lose money, if it's the vendors why the hell would they do that since they would lose money?

Someone has to pay it down the line. If you want to take a loss on something to get people in the store that's fine but not on something THAT large. Make a say of say buy a drill and get some drill bits free or buy some nails and get some free wood, buy a washer and get free detergent for a few months etc.

Besides you would have to see something in their 10-K in order for this to happen otherwise it would piss shareholders off.

The reduction of asm's per store will take place after the annual sales meeting. The projected savings is anticipated to be 175,000,000.00 annually.

How? That just sounds like a big number for ASM cut backs only. Not saying I doubt the idea overall, just the number.

Inhale / Exhale I dont have an issue with folks who get on here and debate an issue that makes sense. My concern is those that get on here and spread lies. That kind of garbage doesnt help anyone. If Lowe's wants to have a "Staffing Change" then they should start with house cleaning all the lazy employees out the front door from Corp Office all the way down to the smallest store. Stop paying people to stand around and do nothing and award those that are dedicated to the company and come to work day in and day out and bust there rumps because they want to see a better day.

Brad again it would not make sense for any retailer to add commissions in the market today.

I would argue maybe the only one that could get away with this might be Menards and I say that only because they are private and the family that runs it is weirder than charles manson and his "family"
