One question I've been asking, also.

Some argued that the stores that were closed the first time around had northlake cancelled, I mean why bother doing it if you are going to close it. Then again I know government buildings that are being worked on when they know they are going to be torn down within five years.

I wouldn't take the cancellation or postponement of lowes northlake to be that much. The company isn't broke but chances are logistically maybe they couldn't do them all at the same time or in the volume that they were before.

I used to hear that remerches were supposed to be done every five years but that really wasn't the case. I haven't hear of a full remerch done in years and years.

At the Northlake store we saw positive impact for sure. Im not sure what it's doing for them now that the newness has started to wear off but it helped sales in the beginning I think.
I will say this, without the full effect being rolled out in a short timeline like the actual Northlake store, you really can't appreciate the scale of the change. The end caps are okay but the big changes were in fashion plumbing, fashion lighting, and the Auntie Anne's being put in. It was done in a relatively fast timeline and people were able to see the changes more easily. It was more exciting to see the changes. As it rolls out to other stores it comes across as more gimmicky. Going from there to my store now even I find it hard to see the relevance of the changes. I know it's 1700+ stores but speed of change is important. It needs to be a huge difference or the customer will barely notice.

Smells a lot better.:) I didn't change anything major. It did seem to increase midday traffic a little. Sure did make break time more expensive. Again, not sure now because I left the Northlake store about 5-6 months ago.

I guess it can be good. It is is sort of an about face on the olf food policy at least where I was. We had food vendors outside usually by the exit. Basically they could not serve anything with a spoon or fork just finger food and it couldn't be brought inside. Eventually they ended the thing. I don't think there's a corporate "thing" for it but it varied by store.

Yeah, we did have to start enforcing the "no pet" policy which pissed a few people off but most understood. Come to think o it, all of their food is still technically finger food.:) Why Lowes!? Why do you hate forks and spoons!? Lol.

Well for awhile there was actually TWO food vendors. One at the exit but then one at the entrance. Supposedly they started arguing with each other because the chance of someone wanting it when they left after they entered was low. There's some sort of food vending truck thing/trailer that serves food near one store near me.

Pet policy enforcement is a good idea because some made messes in stores. In one a dog bit a customer..guess who got sued? If it says service animals then it must be service animals. There's also no code adams for pet so it's kinda odd to bring a dog/cat/horseshoe crab (yeah I saw one) into a store. It is more about the safety of the customers and the animals themselves.

...no Code Adam for pets?

OH NEDM tricked me by leaving the 'M' off his name so I actually READ the post.

That'll teach me.

Sales are down from last year for us after Northlake was completed. Prior to Northlake we were over our budget. An endcap with product sells more than an endcap with videos. It also makes no sense to have faucets and sinks on an endcap in hardware (we have yet to sell any and they have been there for over 2 months), or garden hoses in plumbing.

As with all big changes Lowe's tries to implement there was much fanfare and little impact.

as I said yes no code adam for pets as they won't hear the overhead anyway. If a poodle gets crushed by a forklift it isn't lowes fault.

You are so right........Same with the stupid "$50 and Change" Program here in floida,,,,All that time spent marketing,,planning hours,,,big banners,,ads in flyers,,,FOR NOTHING,,We never sell any of that shit ,,or even have people ask what the hell it is,,,,MORE WASTED TIME AND MONEY ON STUPID BULLSHIT,,,,,,,,,,

Actually if a poodle gets crushed by a forklift it would be Lowe's fault for allowing the dog in the store in the first place. We would more than likely settle out of court and a store manager would get fired for not adhering to company policy.

loller at this thread and all the misinformation in it...

The one comment that was accurate was that the $50 and Change program did suck, which is why it was canceled. Kudos to the decision makers for axing that quickly instead of letting it linger and cost us more money.

I think the NL reset lookes good. My store is the only one in the area to have it done. Makes the store stand out compaired to others.

In my opinion the northlake reset creates too much top stock in the cleaning and chemical aisles. It looks like crap especially the bottom of the racks. There is way too much non productive time wasted putting end caps together with merchandise that is already displayed in its home location, only to take it down in 60 days and replace it with more crap.Lets have no help, set a deadline, allow no overtime to complete projects, and then get written because of the deadline. LEF is great !!!

Like I stated months ago...Northlake is back, albeit a smaller scale though.
