Is Lowe's moving Installed Sales from the stores to a Call Center?

There are 75 comments on the redaprons.invisionzone.com story from Oct 24, 2009, titled Is Lowe's moving Installed Sales from the stores to a Call Center?. In it, redaprons.invisionzone.com reports that:

What is the latest rumor at Lowe's? Answer: Are Install Managers going away?

That is the question Lowe's store employees are beginning to ask. After weeks of rumors of a Installation Call Center test program, word is spreading like wild fire.

Of course, Associates in the stores that manage the program are concerned about their jobs. It appears Lowe's is secretly planning to move most functions of the Installed Sales programs from the stores to a centralized Call Center.

Lowe's Executives alluded to a "Centralized Project Management" initiative on a conference call with investors in September, but gave little details.

There are still many unaswered questions that are leaving many employees concerned about their jobs being so close to the holidays.

The rumor has been floating around New England for 2 years now...
I was told by my DMIS that our office is going to be gone by Jan 2013. She had a meeting on it. I left.

What area are you from? I was never told and neither has any of my dm's. I'd love to know if you're in the new England area!

Region 2 Installed Sales was moved to the CPO in Mooresville two years ago. I was the DMIS and was placed in another job.

On March 9 2012 Lowes will shut down numerous ISO's in North Carolina and shift the office to a CPO. THIS IS A DONE DEAL!
Lowes announced at the Vegas Store Manager meeting that all yellow installed sales folders are going away and contracts will all be computerized. This is simply another step towards the march to a CPO nation-wide.
If you are in the ISO and think this is not going to happen, you need to get your head out of your ....and wake up! Your job is going away!
What you will see is as follows;
PSE's PSI's and PSK's will move into the ISO and receiving will be the ones to get the intallers out in the morning. Refunds and rebills will not be tolerated by the CPO, which means ALL mistakes will be corrected by a cash payout. This mean many poor quality specialists will also be forced out because mistakes will no longer be covered up.
Also....now for some rumor stuff. I also predict the Department managers to be forced to salary level positions (Note the keys they now carry) and will take a 3% pay-raise. Once that takes place Lowes will eliminate all ASM,s other than the one doing Admin. The store will run with a store manager, one assistant manager and the Department managers.
With all that said...."we are a team" and we remember it is the people that makes Lowes great!
How many times have you heard that?
Tell me something do you really think they will get rid of the other two ASMs and let DMs run the store by their selves.? This really doesnt make any sense to me because what happens when the upper management takes vacation who will cover for them. And you do know that lowes has three shifts a day not including night shif in some stores.
Glad to see the changes

I just hope they do away with the AIMs. Most of them are a joke.

Glad to hear other stories about the AIM's. With the support we get from ours he could be fired and I wouldn't notice any changes. Worried about all the changes, PSI. Seems like every year they are taking away more money from the installers and employees. Asking for more but giving you less, the American dream.

We got an email from our AIM stating that we should not be panicking. The CPO will not be coming to our area and he does not know where the rumors are coming from. He also suggested we keep our focus on the business, details turnaround, forecasts, etc... thats a bunch of bull when they have CPO job postings!!! They just don't wants the production offices abandoned by people leaving. No one is crazy about having to go back to the sales floor at a pay cut.

On connections under Installed Sales , Crow flies at midnight there is a post which states they were told by their aim that all stores would be under a CPO by May 2013. If you look at the LLC's there are 2 for Installed Sales with a CPO. Very enlightening as it explains the new relationship between the store, installers and the CPO. If you're in installs I recommend you take a look...

It is there. This may be the next big one considering there has not been much action lately. With the Amazon Supply site maybe Lowe's will start trimming more position to stay quick and slim for Amazon.

I'm in a New England store region 18, and the Department Mangers of installed sales were told that the stores are going under a CPO within a year. They will not loose their job, but put in other positions.

I hope this is true! Installed sale at our store at least has no clue to what it takes to run a store. Plus they don't even know how to sell installs/SOS . How can you work in that office and not know how to do everything on the sales floor?

Well, we got word of this "accidentally" at the store I am the Installed Sales Manager in. Quite frankly I am scared. I feel that by eliminating tasks within the store and centralizing installed sales we are going to drastically increase the number of complaints. If we didn't have a production team to catch mistakes before they are an issue we wouldn't have any sales. I know what my office controls and I know a centralized office wouldn't be able to handle what we do. I am hoping for the best but my gut tells me it's not good.
. It says aim not installed sales

Lowes install program is quite flawed. They have used their installers, and now have begun a systematic firing of them in order to use the lowest bidder. The process they use is also flawed because they have poor workmanship in some installers, and leave the customer holding the bag. I would never use the install program in Polk county Florida! Especially out of Bartow florida. The associates are not knowledgeable enough to qualify customers on their purchasable.

Kylen kinda brings up a good point.

How exactly does corporate decide who to hire for contractors? Can anyone from installs chime in ?
