Corporate Greed Profile: Lowes CEO, Robert A. Niblock

THE HUMANITY!!!!!

In the bizarre world of corporate greed and selfishness that has come to define our times, Robert Niblock saw his income go UP 11% at the same time Lowe's income fell by 22% and our economy teters on the brink of a depression.

The top brass at Lowes were fully aware that 2008 would be a disaster so they decided to base their pay on easily achievable low-ball targets.

$6.6 million AND a private Jet Mr. Niblock made $6.6 Million Dollars last year while employees were laid off and their stock price fell through the floor. To add insult to injury, private Jets are mandated in his contract for safety, health and security reasons. Just like the Auto Industry, Lowes has yet to figure out that its executives can fly first class at a fraction of the price and save thousands of jobs a year for hard working people who are the back-bone of the company.

My store has bonused for 9 in a row. Sometimes we have to be careful of what we spend and waste, INCLUDING HOURS THAT ARE WASTED DOWN AT THE COMMERCIAL SALES DESK BY ASSOCIATES WHO JUST GO DOWN FOR COFFEE and BS. We should all be thankful we have jobs and customers that keep coming back. I am the only one working in my home right now and I am thankful for my job!

Yep, we have those kind of associates at our store too; our admin clerk goes down there to flirt with the guys all day, its sickening.

I am thankful I have a job, but at what point do the workers start standing up to the decisions made by the execs that negatively impact their lives while continuing to make those execs wealthier? Executive stock bonuses have gone up from 3x salary to 4x salary while employee pay and benefits are being reduced. Over the 7 years I have been with Lowes I have watched my potential for increasing my income slowly erode while executive salaries and bonuses have increased.

Yeah Furby, I agree. It's like a relationship, no matter what, both have to concede a little bit, and meet in the middle. You are always going to have to back down a bit and do things that you don't want to keep the relationship fair, and to keep the other happy. However, when the spouse starts demanding fancy things and draining the bank acct, stops holding up their end of the deal, sleeps around, gets drunk every night, etc, then that would be where you draw the line and quit conceding. There is a point when it is no longer called sacrificing, and becomes being walked on. Right now, we are being walked on. So yeah, we may be happy to have a job, but just as in a relationship you shouldn't allow yourself to be walked on just to have a way to get laid, I think the time is drawing near where employees have to quit allowing themselves to be walked on just to have a job and make some rich son-of-a-b**ch richer.

Any time an executive announces cuts or sacrifices, what they are really saying is "we need to take something away from you to benefit us". In all but a few circumstances, your cuts are usually followed by their bonus or pay increases.

This isnt a job, its a death sentence. Sent on delivery 2day and im not delivery. I work electrical. The store was paging me all day & the idiot asm cant pass the word im doing something else at their request. Get hell when I get back because of a call out. Then with 30 mins left in the store, they want the frieght that was left over put away. I loaded 1 skid & 2 carts right into the hopper & left. F@$& u Netrour. And the funny thing is, ill still have a job tomorrow cause there is no accountability & ill laugh watching them wonder where thw frieght is. cant wait 4 unemployment.

Why should you be entitled to an extra discount in addition to 75% off? Corporations are in the business of making money and at 75% they were already selling it below cost.

Huh? Granted he's cheaper relative to what other CEO's are paid but that isn't saying much.

So many negative quarters, why is he still at lowes again? If this man led a football team he would have been fired by now.

I saw online they are looking to hire his replacement. They are supposed to hire someone soon then of course he will retire in the next three years.
