No way. I'm sorry but, specialists are no better than csa's. and they shouldn't have any more special treatment or sheduling than any one else.

Probably not going to be approved by most managers, tell all those customers thel,ll have to come back in three days because one of your designers is on vaca. and the other is off on a 3 day stint. Not many people can operate and sucessfully sell and design from 2020 and even understand how to create an estimate or sell a measure.Experience is everything when come to customer satisfaction and repeat sales.Remember they are turning into little hitlers and want to control everything.

Give me 4 10's on a set schedule and I would be very happy with that. But remember boys and girls its LOWE'S were talking about which means someone always throws a wrench into everything.

The larger issue is why everything gets thrown into a wreck if just one person is out. That is not the way to run a legitimate organization.

Empower the people to do their jobs, trust them and give them responsibility and things will be done. If you don't allow them to do anything then things will get worse.

Sr. managers do not know how to manage. If you have a person going on vac. and you don't plan or train someone to take their place it is poor management. Putting "anyone" into a dept even if they know nothing about is idiotic. Short staffing or over staffing is poor management. Look at the schedule and see the holes, then put together a plan to cover the short staffed dept. People call in sick, look at your staff and see if you can pull someone from another dept. Train and cross-train--purposefully-don' t just assume someone can do the job.

Lowes way is putting a warm body with a red vest in the dept, doesn't matter if they know anything or not. No training or cross training. No planning or poor planning.

BTW-someone mentioned a store without walls-everyone should know how to do everything. Let's start with Management---when they know how to do everything then they can pass that philosophy down the line.
